Default Helmet cam shopping

Well my dad said he'd probly pay for a helmet cam or a quality camera to mount to my bars or helmet. I need something that will withstand a xc race for about two hours for battery life and footage. Now he'll get to hear my potty mouth and see my screw ups as I go through the race, I keep telling him if he would race with me he would be able to see it himself We've been having racing problems going on also so it would be nice to see it

"Ordered mine on Sunday. Should be here Friday. Im excited. It comes with a camera and 5 Helmet mounts. I added in the handlebar mount for $19.95. It runs off 2 AAA batteries (which i just ordered rechargables) and any size SD card (I ordered 2 2GB off amazon for $6 each!). My total for 4 rechargable batteries, a handlebar mount, 4gb worth of memory, a camera and all the mounts including shipping (i had to pay seperate shipping for the batteries, camera, and memory cards because they were all bought in different places) came out to be right around $260. Im super excited to try it out this weekend. Its the Go-Pro camera. the same one Josh Hill and Yamaha run!"

The camera and mounts is $179.95. Im not sure how long batteries would last or how much memory it takes. I plan on running it and bringing my computer to the track and downloading it to my computer between motos.

I got the motorsports Hero camera ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) and then i picked up the Ride Hero Mount for my handlebars. I'll post up video once I use it.

any pics or it or video from it? You can buy some mounts off sites and could use those or be nice to someone with a plasma cutter or water jet to get some handle bars mounts cut out.

I have this one:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I have to pack around my video camera in a backpack, which isn't really a big deal. The "xtreme" mount that comes with it is definitely heavy duty. I know for a fact one of our former members, Psyklone, wadded up pretty good with the same setup, end result: busted wrist, but the camera was fine.

If you're really interested in one of these, make sure your video camera or recording device has an A/V input.

I've had mine for several years now with no issues...other than operator malfunction.

Backpack isn't a real big deal, I'll just throw mine in my camel back at the races but I'll end up tangling myself in wires Saw this one but it's kinda etchy, only an hour and a half of footage [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] seems kinda bobbly in videos on youtube also.

I like this one but the ony problem is footage length [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] who knows, could do something like swaping out memory cards after an hour, I'd do it

Thanks for all the input, might just get the 380 and use a cam corder. I'll show it all to my dad and we'll figure out we end up with.

looky here

Thats pretty sweet your dad is buying you a helmet cam for your runs. I run a VholdR wearable camcorder and have had great experiences using it. You can get a helmet/google or a handlebar mount. Its really small and light plus takes high quality footage. Good luck

I got a really good helmet cam for $99 at "Big 5" i think its a west cost store. I have video of it on my PC at home if i can figure out how to uplaod it i will. but its awsome its shock resistance (i have tested it with many crashes) waterproof up to 3 meters(i think) dust proof, uses 2 AA bateries and a standard SD card. it has a mic too so you can here me screaming profanity when i have my near death experiances all around great investment it came with all kinds of difffernt mounting hard wear. i wish i knew the name of it but its been a while since ive had. And i never had any issues with too.

lol so i just read this post.... the Oregon one is good if you mount it right. and yeah it only has about an hour of footage per 2g memory card but ive never ran into an issue with it. i rarely ride for a full hour striaght with no stops, actually never. i carry extra cards and just swap them out.

Quick note about VholdR cameras. They are on sale on Amazon for $299. It lasts through this weekend so if anyone is in the market for one they should check it out!
