Does anyone have any suggestions to keeping your hands warm in the winter while riding, while still having riding gloves on, or to just still have a good grip on the bars?

I put Heat Factory footwarmers in my gloves on the backside of my hands where they fasten with gloves 1 size larger. The footwarmers are flatter so they fit easier than hand warmers since they are made to sit flat in your boots. Helps a lot well at least keeps them from going numb. Also I use Moose winter gloves which doesn't allow for air to flow through and are waterproof.

As a native Texan, I obviously can't speak from MX'ing in extreme cold conditions, but I've used goretex liner's under insulated gloves and they seem to work amazingly well (even in the low teens). I can imagine the standard MX glove would offer no insulating protection at all.

Handguards along with winter riding gloves work great. The handguards block the wind from your hands and the gloves keep all the nice heat in.

Get you a set of hand warmers that go under your grips. Prett simple to install. You can get them at any ATV/MX store. I have a set on my stock bars and they worked great! Sometimes I would forget they were on and my hands would sweat real bad. So they work good You will have to get new grips more then likely when you decide to take them off. Or you can keep them on at all times. They have a switch so you can turn on and off when desired.

How much do the hand warmers cost and are they easy to install?

You might try looking at "warm weather" or "racing" snowmobile gloves. I have a pair that have the MX pre-formed curve, thin palm, waterproof (really) and too warm above 35°F. |

I know that this is an old thread, but didn't think that there was any reason to make a new one. Anyways has anyone ever heard of putting on latex gloves under your riding gloves to keep your hands warm?

Yeah...it works to some extent but you might wanna' shave the hair off your hands, first....trust me.

If your hands sweat any at all the sweat stays in the gloves and gets COLD! Everyone's physiology is different so you'll have to check out the latex thing for yourself. I know riders that swear by them but they don't work for everyone.

Last January, I was on ride in Nevada. It was like maybe 28 degrees F (I know, not cold for you Northern guys.) Anyway, I put on a pair of cotton gloves, followed by a pair of latex and then my reg MX gloves. It was surprisingly warm and the cotton gloves wicked any sweat and kept my hands dry.

Alright I'll try it when it gets cold. Hopefully that won't be happening to soon, but it always comes faster than you think .
