Default Had to sell the bikes.....Major Bummer:(

Hey everyone. About a month ago my wife announced we were going broke. We had 10 grand in savings about six months ago and that had dwindled down to 3 grand. We've had tons of extra unforeseen expenses. To stop the bleeding I decided we had to sell the bikes. That would build our savings back up and cut down on the extra expenses of running and maintaining the bikes. It was sad to see the bikes go and I know I did the right thing. My computer also went down and I'm accessing the internet from work right now, so I can only post during lunch for a while. I will be looking at buying used bikes somewhere down the road. In the meantime I hope to keep in touch with all of you. Stay Safe and the Strykmaster will ride again. BTW, the guy who bought my 450 was at least 65.......maybe pushing 70. I asked him if he knew what he was getting himself into. Then I fired the bike up and took my last blast down the street riding a 5 house length wheelie on the way back. I then told him....."Are you sure you know what you're getting yourself into?" He wouldn't even take a test ride and he paid CASH. I hope he doesn't killl himself. LOL.

That sucks man. Things will turn around for you. Taking care of family is always top priority over leisure activities.

For the record, I wish I had 3 grand in savings. I'm about 2500 in the hole after my vacation, and still spending. Oh well, I've grown use to living paycheck to paycheck while my wife was in college. Not anymore now that she's finally working.

I'm about to set off on my own venture, and finally start my own business. Alot of researching, a little sweat, and I'll meet my goal of doing it within 6 months. :

I've come close to selling mine twice, but was able to find another way out. As much as it hurts, it's better than the alternative. That says a lot about the kind of person you are. Best.

Well sometimes there are priorities in life that are more important than riding.......geesh I cannot believe I said that.

Take care and you will ride again. Stay around and have fun here in the meantime.

MAJOR Bummer!! But, like they said, motorcycles don't always have to be top priority..(i can't believe i said that either, ima!)

I guess a motorcycle is just a machine whereas your family can not be replaced!

You did the right thing, and I bet you'll be riding again soon!

Strykmaster,

I'm sorry to hear the fate of the mighty 450, but I agree with everyone else, you did the right thing.

AND, the cool part is when you get back into it, maybe you'll have the cash for a NEW bike (not that the '03 was old, cause i believe you bought it new too).

Anyway, I've missed your posts, and I'm glad to hear you are doing fine.

I have faith that you WILL roost again.

Oh and about the rumors.. they were just rumors

In the words of Strykmaster Out!

Thanks for all your support. I'm starting to get withdrawls now, but surf sessions seem to fix that. I'll ride again and post as much as I can......which is very little right now. I'm most likely going to get an older bike next round because of that STUPID red sticker law out here. So next I'll be asking which 2002 or older model I should get. Any suggestions?

Sorry to hear you had to part with your bikes. Hope you are able to replace them soon.

A good friend of mine that I used to ride with about twice a month rode and ATK406 (2-stroke) and he was in his 70's. He was was more than happy to dice it up on the trails. He just quit riding a year ago after a bad get off that required a helicopter ride to the hospital. He is OK now. I just hope I can keep riding as long as he did!
