Default Guess what it is!!!!

There is a little pointed object (plated steel) in the picture below.
Can you guess what it is and how was it used?
Dimensions you ask....

Length---------------------> .380 in.
Center cone diameter-----> .180 in.

1st time I seen this was in the mid 70's.

Hmmmm. Well, I'm guessing it slides into something and the top part is exposed, seeing as it's kind of stained/dirty.

Don't know what it is though.

Hint?

Have no idea. It almost looks like an older fuel inlet. The two piece inlet, but I got smart and right click on the pic (I assume you did as well) and came up with "bearing grease" So when I first said I knew what it was I was wrong LOL.

LeRoy:

I'm 95% sure that I know what it is & it was normally only on the back of the bike.

I don't want to give it away right now.

The number plates used to have a grommet that slid over that and held the plate on.

Me thinks Howard knows. A Corona says you won't tell em
Howard.
Freak made me laugh tho, the picture came out of my grease file. Ain't got nutin to do with grease Freak.

Clue...it's basically only used in one venue of racing for which I don't think anyone on ATM has done.

I'll tell you another long story about this thing after you guys figure it out.
You may not believe it tho.....
