Just recapp Matt, try and visualise what you wish you would've done and try to remember that next time. Everytime i have a bad riding day, i try to remember what i was having difficulty with and then try to get it right the next time i ride.

I know what I did...it was pressure...I need to deal with it better...the pressure of being in 3rd and trying to hold it and run a fast pace..which was over my head...I crashed...I should have slowed down coming into that hill...no one would have passed me going down it anyhow.

Got some pictures..I don't have any of me really riding during the race because i didn't do but one lap so I didn't get back to where my dad was.

Look down the middle of the dirt road...on behind the guy on the YZ250...thats me..I was riding around after warming the bike up getting it cleared out.

After I got back from clearing the motor out...then I get my gear on and head to the line

Sitting on the line...4th bike from left(#791)Yellow and red number plate.

My class starting...My dad switched the camera to this action mode where it does it in a series thing as you can see and you can't see me...I was 2nd though

I totally agree, calling it safe for the day was a much better idea then risking getting on the ATM IRL (Injured Reserve List).

So gotta a question, did you get to run new oil in your tranny for this race?

Ahhh Woody...I forgot to tell you about it....Saturday I went "Oil Hunting"....Went to Advanced autoparts...NOTHING:....they had like 1 kind of mobil-1 oil and not a good selection of other oils either....kinda ircked me to be honest...then I was right by the honda dealership and had to see about a tool to get the clutch locknut off my XR so I went to see about that...then I left there and went to B.J's Warehouse Club and looked...walked to where there oil usually is...NO OIL???WHAT!?!?!?::...so I walked around for like 10 mins(or it sure felt like it)..and finally saw it..it was on the same isle it usually was on but they are changing the stuff around so there was just pallets wayy up top..no way I could get to it...they had the Mobil-1 15W-50 REDCAP and also the Rotella T..not sure if it was synthetic or not...walked around to see if I could get some help..no emplyee around anywhere...:...so I left and stopped by NAPA auto parts on teh way home and they had the red cap so I bought 2 quarts...went home and changed it and filled it up with the RED CAP...so far I am happy.

It seems to shift better..not as many mis shifts...exspecially from 1st to 2nd...didn't get hung up in neutral as much. Only 1 thing though...now this I don't know if it was just a coincedence that it started happening when I changed the oil or not but my bike now seems to creep forward when in gear and clutch in.....I will adjust the clutch and see if that helps...I think it was just one of those things they decided to pop up when I changed the oil.

Ok, couple things.

First sorry to hear about all the good luck you had finding oil...

The reason it creaps on you is that the oil is pretty thick (15w50). Once it's warmed up, it shouldn't do it any more. Mine does the same thing if I don't let the bike warm up (I leave mine on the stand for 5 min or so before I even get on it). It does it a bit worse when it's cold too.

So, I've changed my thinking about what oil "I" think you should use. Since you're using this in a clutch application, I would seriously consider getting the rotella T over the Red Cap.

Reasoning:
Let me first say, I'm not sure what weights the non-synth comes in since I've not looked at it, but the synthetic that I have is a 5w40, which for the clutch seems like it might be perfect.

I'm even thinking I may go with the non-synthetic for my clutch side and run the synthetic in my engine side, though, I may not since I like to run the same in both just to avoid confusion.

Anyway, I think if I were you, I'd see what weights they have the non-synth in and if you can get the 5w40, go for it. Even if it's a 10w40 it might be still better.

I'm beginning to think that synthetic on the clutch side is maybe over kill, and maybe even not as good as the non synth from a performance standpoint (maybe less clutch slippage?? but maybe at the sacrifice of smooth shifting????)

On your next change see if you can get your hands on some rotella 5w40 and see if that helps the creaping.

I think your right Woody...I wasn't even thinking about the oil thickness being the problem...I did notice it was pretty thick when I was putting it in and it doesn't seem to creep really at all that I have noticed once warm...I guess it thins out just enough when warm to stop the creeping...I do really want to try the rotella like you said...Thats why I only wanted to buy in quarts right now instead of cases to see if I like it...The mobil-1 is a great oil but maybe not the best for the clutch like you said. I think I might start using it on my XR though when I get it back together.

Like you said..maybe using a synthetic on the tranny side is overkill....I tend to change out my tranny oil pretty frequently anyhow because I seem to get it dirty pretty quick. Get back in tight woods on teh CR and slip the clutch and I guess I get more crap off the friction plates from that which tends to get my gear oil dirty rather quick. We'll find something that works great Woody...if you find it before me..let me know...I will do the same.

Sounds good. AT $7 a gallon for the non synth too, you can't go wrong. I'll check my local stores and see what weights the non synth comes in.

And of course, once you try it, I'll need to know what you think.

Of Course.

I also thought about giving ATF a try...doesn't Yardpro run that in his CRF?? I thought I saw a post from him a long ways back about him using it...but i don't know if he was using it in his previous CR250Rs or his CRF.

First off....I am so proud of you! It isn't the easiest calling it a day. There are just days where you shouldn't get back on the bike. You did a good job assessing the situation and made an excellent decision imo. It is always better to be able to ride another day than taking stupid risks.

Second- I hope you feel better soon. Take it wasy for a little while and you will heal up fine.

Good luck at your next race and congrats on your second out of the hole.
