Default GMB Foundation Supports RDF's Laptop Project

RiderDown would like to extend a very special thank you to Mike Berg and all those who are involved with the Garrett Michael Berg (GMB) "Remembering Those Who Rode" Foundation. The GMB Foundation has graciously provided funding in support of our Laptop Project. Laptop computers with voice recognition software installed are delivered to some of our seriously injured riders who are dealing with spinal cord injuries. The voice recognition software allows freedom and independence while surfing the web, chatting online, doing homework or conducting business. Recipients to date have included Jeremy Bader and Jim “Smiley” Riley. Another one is soon to be delivered, but we don’t want to ruin the surprise!

Thank you to Mike and the GMB Foundation! We could not do this without you! For more information on this special effort or to learn more about the RiderDown Foundation and it's goal of "Helping Riders Up" please visit [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

To support the GMB Foundation, check out this link at AllThingsMoto.com GMB. If at all possible, you should make plans to attend the annual Garrett Michael Berg Memorial Ride held at Splendora MX in Texas. It’s a great time, for a great cause!

Here is a copy of my post when I first saw this on RiderDown:

Bruce,
I appreciate your post and comments about the Garrett Berg Memorial Foundation - "Remembering Those Who Rode" and especially your reference to ATM - Offroad Motorcycle and ATV Forum - Welcome, Guest!

The people who made this donation possible are the people of ATM [allthingsmoto.com]. Their support year after year is what makes it a reality to help others in the off-road riding community. My family and I are simply trying to be good shepards of the generous donations from many, many, many people.

For my family, it was a pleasure to be given the chance to help in the RD Laptop project. I think this is a GREAT thing to do to help people "re-engage life" and provide a means for them to share and be involved. Those people who are injured permanently in a riding accident are not forgotten and they are very much a part of the passion we who ride all share. I have always said, "you can take yourself off of a motorcycle, but the love of riding motorcycles never leaves you."

Without the support of "Those Who Ride" the ability to "Help and Remember Those Who Rode" would be much more difficult, if not impossible.

My heartfelt thanks to the sponsors of and the people who attend and so generously give of their time and money to support the annual Garrett Berg "Remembering those Who Rode Memorial Race" held the first weekend in October every year in Splendora, Texas.

To the creator of AllThingsMoto.com, Tyler Guidice and the current owners of ATM - THANKS SO MUCH for your heart and the dedication, help and support that keeps the site up and running. To the owners of Thumpertalk.com you too hold a special place in my heart.

Lastly, but not least to the "Family and Friends" on ATM - you folks are simply unbelieveable. My feeling about who you are and what you have done and continue to do is simply "hard to put into words." How can a person thank a group of people from the off-road riding community who literally helped me find the desire to "go on" and helped me find a "will to live" after the death of my son Garrett?

Tragedy that comes into our lives brings with it a "pain" that never heals and we simply learn to live with that pain. Tragedy can also produce much "good" in a world that so desperately needs it, BUT none of this would be possible without the "hearts of people like you" those who participate in Off-Road riding. Thank you so much for being who and what you are.

Sincerely and humbly,

Mike Berg & Family

Fantastic!!! The "givers" here at ATM are a great group of people but it is you Mike who proudly and IMHO correctly dispenses the funds. The lap top project sounds like a perfect way to continue the memory of a very giving Garrett M. Berg.

Check out Racer X’s ([Only registered and activated users can see links. ]) website today, you’ll see the press release in the Breaking News section. Here's a direct link to the press release; [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Without your help this would not be possible. We're still pretty small but beginning to make a big difference in the lives of our fellow riders and their families. Take care and RIDE SAFE!!

Whow! Thank Bruce. That is a real nice press release. We appreciate your support of ATM and the Garrett Berg Memorial Foundation and for giving us the "The ATM "Off-Road Family" a chance to help others who share our passion.

Default Thanks!

Someone I was racing against a few years back had a spinal injury, and had no insurance. We had a fundraiser for him, and his RM250 had to sell also. But we tried the best we could to help out then. Im glad to hear others like you guys are doing good things for people. Im glad to be a part of something so cool, thanks for everything so far!-Derek
