Hey guys im here once again to post about gearing. So heres my question...If i go from a 14-50 tooth setup to a 13-51 tooth setup would the power stay the same or would it give me more low end performance? Thanks Again!!!

Since your taking off one tooth from the front that actually makes it lower geared. Plus, since your adding one tooth that makes it lower geared also. So since when you take one tooth off the front it is equal to adding 3.5 teeth on the back. so now you have about 4.5 teeth u just added to the back. Thats a big change in gear ratio and will give u a short pull in each gear but will hit hard.

I think that a 14-52 would work better

Thanks guys i think i finally made my decision. I'm gonna get a 52 tooth rear sprocket and keep my 14 tooth front sprocket.

Here is a neat little way to help you answer those gearing questions: First, take the number of teeth on the rear, for example 52. Next, divide that number by the number of teeth on the front, say 14. 52 / 14 =3.71.... You've come up with: 3.71..., what does it mean? The lower the number = taller gearing and increased top speed. The higher the number = shorter gearing and better low-end performance. Peace, Andrew

if you go smaller up front-the chain will have a sharper turn to make and it may increase the tendency for the chain to lift-it is better to make gearing changes to the rear...back when your bike was built-sidewinder sprockets offered two peice rear sprockets for quick gearing changes without removing the rear wheel-they were aluminum and anadized-some guys would run two different colored halves-tRiCK...anybody else seen`em??

Also remember that sprocket sizes affect the suspension. The smaller the front/bigger the rear the more apt your suspension is to "squat" under load.
