Default Forest noise requirment?

I bought a 03 CR250 back in august and I just now read the sticker on my back fender that says that it does not meat the forest noise requirments... Now one would think with a new bike they would meet the requirments... Anyways my question is can i get a spark arrester that does meet the requirments without havin to buy a new pipe... I was wanting to get the FMF Turbine Core II-Q spark arrester..... Also if a person was ridin in the woods and got fined for noise how much would the fine be? Sorry if i posted this in the wrong forum...

Thanks Justin

Motocross bikes don't meet Forestry Service decibel limits because they are designed for closed course competition. I think the limit is something like 98 decibels at 5,000 rpm. The fine for getting caught is $75-100. The good news is that they only check you at sound check stations they set up at the entrance to the riding area. If you can sneak by, you're in good shape.

However, I have this information based only on my experiences at the Oregon Sand Dunes. I don't know if it's different anywhere else. I also have to say that the only place I've ever had my sound checked was at the Oregon Sand Dunes. All other riding areas I've been to don't have sound checks so sound isn't a big deal to me.

I would be more worried about a spark arrestor. The fine for a forest fire is pretty pricey I hear. I am not aware of a spark arrestor you can add to your stock pipe.

I've heard that there is no proof that a motorcycle has ever caused a fire. I wouldn't recommend packing your silencer with steel wool though.

JROCK20.....
In Calif. your sound requirement for the forest is 96db
and you need a spark arrestor and they are checking for both now.

You will need some modifications on your CR250 to meet this.
Below is the dist 37 website and you can get that info by just asking in the racing forum. Dist 37 requires spark arrestors for desert racing.

A four wheeler caused a fire a couple years back here without a spark arrestor just riding around a field. It was a big deal, I think it burned a couple hundred acres.

Yeah, considering what is happening here in CA right now...I would not question the spark arrestor thing. I know it has made me rethink it.
