So Woody...are you thinking something like...have your picks for the podium each week? Or maybe, pick a "team" of riders and stick with them for the whole season? I think it can be done, but it presents somewhat of a challenge.

Have you seen the pool at www.motorcycle-usa.com? It's pretty well done...

char, the idea would be to have everyone choose their picks for each week. We are trying to work out some kind of a point system as well to keep track of everything.

Sounds very cool to me, what do we win if we come in first at the end of the season?

I used to do a Tour de France pool every year, and I structured it around a team owner concept: everyone started with certain amount of money he could use to "buy" riders for his team. Then the riders were given monetary values based on their UCI ranking. (Maybe for the SX series, you could base the top forty or so riders on their season finish position from last year, with the rest being a flat fee of some anount.) Riders earn points for the team based on the top twenty finishing positions each week. The "team" with the most points at the end of the season is the winner.

The disadvantage is that you're sort of stuck with the same riders all year, unless someone gets hurt. But the advantage is that after the initial selections, the pool pretty much runs itself.

how does the point system work in supercross? would it be possible to just use those points each week?

I've never done this, if you have a budget to buy riders, can more than one person own a rider? Can multiple people own the same teams? I would like to get into this, I think it would be pretty cool.
