INDUSTRY NEWS - Evel Knievel Dead At 69
By Paul Carruthers
Evel Knievel, 1938-2007 11/30/2007

The Associated Press is reporting that Evel Knievel, arguably the most famous motorcycle rider in history, died today at the age of 69 after a battle with diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis.

Knievel, who made a name for himself by jumping everything from buses to the fountain at Caeser's Palace to the Snake River Canyon, had undergone a liver transplant in 1999 after nearly dying of hepatitis C, according to AP.

He suffered nearly 40 broken bones before he retired in 1980.

You better believe it, if it's on ATM then it has to be true! My mom just called and saw it on CNN or something also- I'd say it's true.

Usflag Re: Evel Knievel has passed away

I was fortunate enough to have met him when I was 18, and before he was famous. He said hi I’m Evel Knievel ever heard of me and I said no then he said you will. He came in to the gas station I was working at. For you young guys back then gas stations were full service. We talked for a while it was great, I told him I was racing dirt bikes and he thought that was cool. I believe this was back in 1970. I also saw him jump out at one of the drag strips (Lyons in Long Beach) in the early 70’s. I have all ways remember that day.

GOD Speed Evel
