Cool Energy Drink Discussion

With the recent explosion of energy drinks, I am curious to see how many of you drink them?

I have found that almost all of them I don't like, 99% of the ones I try give you what I call a caffine buzz and I don't care for that at all. However I have replaced my morning coffee with a Monster Energy drink on a daily basis, I like the taste and you can't beat the vitamins that are in a can of this stuff.

Just curious how many others out there drink them, and curious on opinions of them as well.

I don't think I've ever tried an energy drink. I'd rather eat a banana or something...and if I need a caffeine fix, I like my coffee. Otherwise I usually just drink water. I have a pop...oh wait, I'm in Texas now, a "coke" every once in a while.

It seems like a lot of hype. The stuff is expensive, and most cans are way too small. I've tried red bull, and I couldn't get halfway through it. It tasted bad, and gave me a headache instantly. Uh oh, I've just become an old person....

I havent tried many of the energy drinks but the ones I did try were horrible, unless their taste was camouflaged by the Grey Goose. I did become addicted to the Sobe drinks however, but theyre more like flavored drinks.

I like redbull, but not when im exercising. The best thing while riding is water or accelerade. I like accelerade because it has protein in it, which aids muscle recovery. My arms dont throb the next morning as badly if i have an accelerade.

I am not one that drinks them for the caffine hike or anything like that, I just like the Monsters, when I am riding or exercising, its pure H20, Actually water and a monster or 2 a day is all I normally drink.

I don't normally drink those type of drinks. I usually drink water or the new flavored Powerade that is lower in sodium but has all of th other stuff in it. I did swipe a Hansen's from Russ the other day and it was pretty good. Haven't tried any of the energy drinks as DR G has described but I hear that is gooooooooooooooood.

And..........................beer and distilled spirits are a form of water!!

Copied from RonronMx.com:

When I went to GNC to get my month supply of arsenal-x and omega cuts, I got a free GNC magazine and they had an article about how bad energy drinks really are for you heres some of the stastistics the study came up with..

top 5 worst energy drinks

1)MONSTER
2)Sobe No Fear
3) Ampd
4)Full Throttle
5)Rockstar

Red Bull with no sugar was rated as the best energy drink for you, but rightfully enough it had the least effect on your body..(gave you the least energy). heres some other scary stastistics it showed in the article..

for ever 20oz. of Monster you drink it takes 6.3 gallons of water to flush it out of your kidneys, the average person drinks 6.3 gallons of water in 23 days.. for every 20oz of Red Bull with no sugar you drink it takes .9 gallons of water to flush out your kidneys the average person drinks .9 gallons of water in about 2 days.

Another study showed...

If the average person drank 5 Monsters a day for 12 years, and did not drink 1 gallon of water per day he/she would have kidney failure within 5 years... The average person can drink 5 Red Bulls with no sugar a day for 196 years before getting any signs of kidney failure.

Some more...

The average energy drinker drinks 2 energy drinks a day to equal the sugar in 2 Monster you would have to eat 13 scoops of ice cream a day.. Red Bull with no sugar it would take 2 scoops of ice cream in a day to equal two red bulls with no sugar..

those are real scary numbers I think I'd lay off the Monster... even the best energy drink for you which is Red Bull with no sugar even it looks real bad for you...

I stay far away from "energy drinks".
Within the last week I read an article where a test was done using sports drinks vs. chocolate milk. It turns out the chocolate milk had more protien and the glucose transported it to the muscle cells much quicker. The subjects consuming the chocolate milk returned to activity about the same time as the sports drinkers but were able to sustain the activity much longer.

Somebody mentioned Accelerade. I think it was Sirfallsalot. This is my choice. It delivers natural protien to the body and is offered by GNC. It works well for this old guy smack dab in the middle of his 40's. I need something that actually enhances my body's ability to function rather than something that just gives me a rush of energy.

I tried a bookoo once. I broke out in hives for the next 3 days.

I didn't believe it was the bookoo that caused it, so I got another one. Same damn thing again. So yeah, I drink the stuff all the time

I drink mostly water, and well... Diet Coke :

Stay with unprocessed foods. You can get the sugar high from some honey if thats your thing. Good old H2O is what your body wants when your active. I remember I think is was the Seattle SX and Bubba was on the podium with his energy drink, Written on the bottom was H20. Made me laugh those guys get paid big bucks but they don't drink that crap either.

I have tried a few energy drinks and I thought they all tasted bad. I typically drink 2-4 16.9fl oz waters a day, plus a few glasses of Kool-Aid on top of that. When I am riding all I drink is water and sometimes powerade or gatorade when I have just finished riding. While my buddies and I where out riding one day I drank seven waters, although that day it was like 90 degrees F with 100% humidity.
