H2O and Advocare Rehydrate is all I drink when I ride....[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Monster, Redcow, and Rockclown are worthless from the point of riding. You wanna pull an all nighter drink up, but for moto your are better with just good old water...IMHO

Probably the only one I actually like is Amp. I do drink it pretty regularly at work just because I do not have a taste for coffee like I used to for some reason. Any energy drink is not what I would consider a "sports drink". For riding, I'm more into water, gatorade, and bananas.

I never have tried any of the so called "energy" drinks.

Most are just full of caffeine and sugar.

When I am riding aggressively at the dunes, I fill up my Camelback with ice cubes, and then pour in Gatorade. As the ice melts, it gives a nice 50/50 mix of ice cold water and Gatorade!!

Made me laugh those guys get paid big bucks but they don't drink that crap either.

I agree a spoon full of natural honey does wonders. Fresh from the hive

Interesting conversation. Like I said the only time I drink a Monster is in the morning and I do that in place of a cup of coffee, I don't drink them before I ride or anything like that, in fact with all the sugar in them, it would probably promote arm pump big time.

For all of you that are anti-energy drinks....how can they be so horrible for you if they have all the vitamins and things listed on the nutrient label? As I understand it the government tests these things before they are put onto a label and then released. Another reason I choose Monster is because they have the highest vitamin count out of any I have found out there as well.

Pedilyte(sp) and water is probably the best for you at the track. As far as hydration, that starts days before you ride. I try to consume more water the days before I ride and then I drink powerade at the track just for the flavor. To remain hydrated you have to constantly drink liquids even when you are not thirsty. You should drink until you have to urinate and your urine should be clear, if it is not, you are dehydrated. Also, try to avoid, dyuretics(sp) such as beer, tea, coffee, "coke" as they cause dehydration

what about the aminoacids(sp) that cause your pee to turn a color from the work out? When your sore from a work out...either riding or at the gym...that would be those acids....

Caffeine in general is a diuretic. What Jason said above is spot on.

For those of us that drink coffee or a coke in the morning, I believe it is the same thing to have an energy drink. I don't know about all of you but I need a jumpstart every morning and whether it is an energy drink or coffee it is all the same. An energy drink seems to have more nutrients so that is probably better. However, my 13 year old in the house does not need energy drinks so I do not have them in the house to tempt him.

As for riding at the track. I drink mostly water and I used to bring one gatorade. The other day the weather was 103 when I was riding and that gatorade just did not sit well. I think I will just drink water from now on.

Ima:

You drank the Gatorade to fast! you need to sip whatever your drinking at the track when it's that hot!

Think about mixing something hot (your body) & something cold ( Gatorade) they tend to react violently with each other! just like putting water on a hot piece of metal.

I mix Poweraid & water 70% water 30% Poweraid & sip it slowly as not to upset my stomatch.

Try mixing water and gatorade 50/50, doesn't taste very good, but is better than just water or just gatorade

as for a pick me up, I can't go without caffiene without getting a headache, so I sip on a Mountain Dew through out the ride
