Default embarassed at GMB II

here's the scenerio.

we get to the bergs and i put the thunder alley on my bike. it starts second kick, as always. sounds killer. run it for a few minutes, think heck yea, this pipe sounds great. i shut it down. Now i was the only honda thee, there were a garage full of blue bikes. i left my bike there that night. it was sitting out in the drive. lost of alcoholics were pilfering it all night (me included). I just kept thinking "don't twist the throttle".
the next day we pick up the bike. on the way to the track motoman starts telling me that his bike has been hard to start recently. i am thinking to myself, boy am i gonna give him hell if it won't start. well we get there and walk most of the track. motoman gears up first and starts kicking his bike. it won't start after 5 or 6 kicks.
'SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A HONDA...... HEY YOUR VALVES ARE SHOT... PIECE OF JUNK YAMAHA... " SUDDENLY COMES BLURTING OUT OF MY MOUTH.
there are all yamaha guys around. his bike starts and he goes ripping off in the distance.
I gear up, hop on the red beast and give her a good kick, then another, and another. after about 20 kicks i take off my helmet to hear several people giving ME a hard time and snickering.
well i start thinking about having left it at the berg.s the night before and big maico being there. i start looking for sopark plug wire pulled off, idle turned all the way down, etc. then i get a picture in my head of Big M twisting away at the throttle laughing saying, " i'll show him a bucket of bolts" .
after about 100 kicks, mr berg and anothe fellow come over, ovbiously feeling sorry for me. we start talking about pulling the tank to replace the plug, etc.
I happen to pull off my gas cap and
no gas
what an idiot i felt like. i pour fuel in and 2 kicks later it fires. after if had been run the night before, i would have never thought it was out of gas. I had shut it down, it had not cut off.

what are the chances of that? guess i was almost out of gas the last time i went riding.

the moral of this story is honda's run better with gas

LOL, I remember that vividly.

I take the little bit of flack about 5 kicks, and I am off, I ride for about 20 min and stop out on the track. I figured I would take a rest and wait for yardpro to come around so we could ride a bit. He never comes, I am thinking to myself, "He's hiding from me, he must be afraid".

I get back to the pits and he tells me the story and I about fall out from laughing so hard.

That is so sad Yardpro. Funny when it isn't you but I am sure that you were embarrassed. Bikes do run better when they have gas. LOL

Yardpro, here's my out of gas story: Ran out while waitng for the gate to drop. Minutes seem like hours when waiting for thy bro to fetch can. And yes.....the gate dropped.

One day when I was at the track, I noticed a dude on a yamaha yz400 kicking over on the side of the track. 2 laps later, he was still there, so I pulled in to give him a hand. We went through the routine, hotstart, yada yada yada, and after a good 20 mins, I asked him if he had gas in the tank. He was like... nah, its got gas, its just a hard to start 4 stroke... so i told him to just be sure. He pulled th cap off, and the tank was dry. Boy was he embarrassed. I rode to his truck and brought him his gas can... haha

I always twist the throttle of my friend's thumpers and then give them a hard time when it takes 10 kicks to start...

But not as good as KTM's

:

I don't know how many times I've taken off with the choke pulled, only to stop by the side of the track after half a lap thinking "man, this thing just ain't running right today. Must be time for an air filter change or something..."
