| Did you replace the timing belt every 50k miles? If not I say that belt lasted twice as long as it was ment to. I don't think a car that costs under 20k that comes with a bumper to bumper is out of line if it makes 100k miles. Now if you told a story that the car was problematic and in the shop all the time....well then I'd scream DON'T BUY!! Sounds to me the car went to the shop for regular oil changes, brakes, and tires. 2500 for a new block is about standard for any small import motor. These cars are ment to be driven into the ground at a low cost with interiors American mfg won't offer at a bargan. |

| I'm actually getting a suv from them. I don't see the timing belt as a problem, since all cars that use them need to be changed periodically. That is considered regular maint. But I will say, never go to a dealer to have something fixed. Go to a well established good local mechanic. They are usually only a $400 job or less for timing belts. Now that you have to replace motor parts, yup, expensive. But just keep in mind Honda's, chevy's, fords etc all have to have timing belts changed about 50-70k miles, the new cars say closer to 100,000. But going over that is kinda like roulet. |

| yeah.. it never was a problematic car. just all went to hell one day on its way to anchorage we work on out cars our self mostly (just changed the timing belt in my moms bf's 95 monte carlo) its real rare we take our stuff in to be fixxed. just never got around to it on the kia so we are just going to scrap the car and sell it for its parts most likley. | Just bad luck. Sorry that happened to you. I know that has to suck. I know how you feel. I have been staring at choclate milk colored oil no less than three times on my cars (different ones). One good way to look at it: At least it was just a mechanical failure and not a bad car accident. I will take mech. failure any day vs medical injuries due to car accident. In any event, sorry for your luck. |
