Default Does a 125 2 stroke have enough low end power for trails?

I want to ride trails, and probably won't be doing any MX.

I'm leaning to get a 125 2 stroke instead of a 250 4 stroke. As much as I love 4 strokes, the maintenance seems too expensive.

As well as the fact that I would like to work on my bike by myself, and 2 strokes are simpler.

However, I have never ridden a 2 stroke. I hear that they do not have much low end power.

How true is this? Is it not good enough for riding off trail?

While it is true they do not have much low end power, that does not mean they are not capable of being great trail riding machines. You will certainly need to ride it differently than you would a 4-stroke, but you will still have a blast riding it.

If you want a 2-stroke, get one. You'll love it.

125's are great fun where ever you ride them.

Oh and welcome to

Gear it down with a change of sprockets and it will have the torque you need.

If I were you i'd look for a good used KTM/Husky 200 or 300.

Both of those would have more than the high revving 125.
