| Yep, seams when it rains it pours sometimes. As most of you know when I broke my back last year I also had a severe dislocation of my right arm at the shoulder, it was actually behind my head. I had it come out last summer while swimming once but since then it has been pretty good with minimal problems. I had a tri-axle load of firewood delivered to my house this last week from a local saw-mill ($285 for 2 years worth of heat...not bad) and this last Sunday I was splitting wood by had from 9am to around 2 in the afternoon, no big deal. I quit around 2 and decided to go for a swim, I went to jump in the pool and threw my arms over my head...as soon as I did I felt and heard my arm come out of socket....wonderful. I stood up in the pool and told Amy to get the car keys, as she had to take me to the hospital. We go, and I sit for an hour in misery while awaiting a Dr to pop my shoulder in place. The doctor couldn't get it in place so they had to call in a orthopedic surgeon to do it. He got it in place but of course it's still sore and I am in a sling. I now have 1/2 of a arm to work with...my left one. lol. Anyway I am going to see the surgeon next week as to the possibility of having some type of surgery done to my shoulder to stop this from happening. I am just falling apart. lol. |

| Jim, that really bites pardner. You and Bill are getting your share of incisions for sure! I'm sure you've already considered this but I would go to a "Shoulder Specialist"! I think my thumb would work better now if I had sought out a hand specialist. Although, I am by no means certain because my navicular/schaphoid was busted into 5 pieces. The Ortho surgeon I used had 29 years experience. I'm still racing mx so it could be worse. Just hang in there man. With all you're going through, you'll be as tough mentally as you are physically. Keep your chin up! |

| Jim, you really need to just stay at home and sit on the couch. Don't go outside or the sky might fall on your head! |

| Jim: Call Dr. Mark & than come stay here at my house, it's only about 20 miles to his office & the hospital he uses. Dr. Mark Sanders is an athlete who rides MX (CRF 250 #57). He knows what it is like to be injured. He knows how depressing it is to be out of commission. His goal is to get you back fast. He is grabbing the attention of athletes across the United States for innovative treatment of complex fractures, rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability and knee ligament injuries. His ACL patients return to riding in three months. Three months! That is less than half the time of traditional ACL repairs. He really works with the patient, not just the injured limb. With his staff of certified fitness trainers, he works out a program that not only gets the injured limb stronger, but the whole body as well by the time it is over. Patients are amazed at how quickly they can get back to doing what they love. And when its done, its done. His success rate is so high that patients rarely have to deal with the injury again. He takes care of it. He would rather see you on your bike than in his office! He rides. He cares. Dr. Sanders really is the fastest way back. | Hey Jim, What a bummer. Howard has some good advice on Dr. Mark, I have his cell phone number programed in my cell phone. Word is that he just cares more. Give him a call, won't cost anything for a chat. Mike |
