Default DEATH OF A GREAT RIDING SPOT

Im sure all the fellow so cal riders will shed a tear when they hear that BEAUMONT is closed for good!

Its always been a hit and miss spot, but according to MONOSHOCK, he and another board member went out this past saturday only to be greeted by locked gates and land owners warning people that if the cross the gate, the police will be there and are in fact impounding the riders bikes, vehicles and even trips to jail. i think i will pass.

It just goes to show that our peaceful family oriented hobby is being taken from us piece by piece. I for one prefer open land riding and trails over paying to ride on some track for a lap before some yahoo with plenty of bike and no skill takes me out.

we have got to do something about this....SO CAL RIDERS UNITE!

PLEASE PM ME WITH ANY PLANS FOR ANY SO CAL RIDES.

Unfortunately that is the trend in this state. I was up at Silverwood lake a few weeks ago, and most of the trails there are also closed. Don't know if it is temporary or permanant.

Was it on private property? Or near a housing unit? If so maybe they complained to people and that is why it is closed?! Just a thought.

What kind of land is ideal for riding? We own 100+ acres out here in the country. Some of it is wooded and some of it used to be farmed on but is not anymore. Would that be okay to ride on? I know this does not help your situation but if it makes you feel better, I would let you ride on it if you so desired to do so (Too bad you are across the country )

Well, that definitely sucks, but I am not surprised. Most of Beaumont (I believe) is private land...that is pretty hard to argue with.

The closing that really bother me are the public land closures. There used to be a small, but cool, riding spot near Palm Springs. It was closed this year as well

I honestly do not have any great ideas to help this problem in So Cal, but I would love to hear them as well.

The land near Silverwood Lake is public land controlled by USFS. Another problem with land closures in the already crowded So. Cal. area is that it is packing us trail riders in closer together, which increases the chances of the dreaded head-on, and it is much harder on the land. At the current rate of closures, it won't be long before it isn't even worth going out

One thing you can do to help the land closures is vote out a certain woman politician with the initials of BB. She is responsible for many closures we have had in the last 10 years.

Carlsbad Raceway is also closing. [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Another track called Victorville Motorsport Complex is supposed to be officially closing as of August 16. Apparently they lost their lease to a proposed shopping mall!!

Man, this really bites for all the SoCal riders.

There was a 40 acres spot near Lemoor Naval Air station. It was a dried up river bed but someone built up some cool berms, woods trails, table tops, ramps even a whoops section. First they ran some barbed wire across half of it. Then a few months ago, me and my son were greeted by a sheriff and 5 large signs with the penal code and that it has been taken over by the state of California. That was a cool little spot because it was only like 20 minutes from our house.

We used to race on the back portion of that base. They had regular races held there. It was a good mx track, for that time frame LOL

That sucks, I am loosing all my favorite summer riding spots. Hopefully they don't close Kennedy Meadows, or summer riding will be over for me.

three things you can do if you really care

1. join the Blue ribbon coalition at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
2. Join the AMA
3. Vote all republican and do not vote for John Kerry since he is backed by the Sierra Club, Earth first, etc who are the responsible parties for closing the land you enjoy so much.
