Well I have about $110 to spend. I need a Caliper, torque wrench in ft lbs (lbs ft) 0-100. A torque wrench for inch pounds or no? A micro meter and a starrett rule, a straight edge, feeler gauge in MM. Which ones should I get first? I know im going for the torque wrench(s), straight edge or could I use a level? And the feeler gauge ( I have one but its RUSTED BAD!) I could save some money by not getting a feeler gauge but how would I clean this darn rust off? As some of you know Im doing all this work myself with the TRUSTY manual! Im trying to learn and get what I need. Help Please Oh and by the way I am going to SEARS for my tools. Most of the torque wrenches on the web site are 129.00 (cry) everything else is in the 100's.

Torque wrench should be first on the list in my book. Anything you take apart on the bike *should* be torqued, for a motorcycle I would get the inch/pounds wrench first because the majority of bolts on a bike are really low. Make sure it goes down to something really low because most wrenches aren't accurate until they get up like 25% of their range. After that I would get feeler guages, the flat and rod type. Then the micrometer, straight edge, level and foot/pounds torque wrench.

to get that rust off use some wd40 and a scrub brush, soak it in it then scrub and you should see improvements then take steal wool to it

The work Im going to be doing requires me to torque bolts to 65 lbs ft.. 20lbs ft.

is it a brake caliper you need? cuase i would get that first so you can at least ride the bike. then i would find a less expensive ft. pounds torque wrench, and you dont need feeler gauges on that cr cause there are no valves. but a micrometer is nice for piston sizes so you can check if it is warped too bad or anything

No not a brake caliper. The tool. Yes I do need a feeler gauge for the top end to check warpage/yada yada.

He can't ride anyway, he's injured I would definitely get the torque wrench first. You risk breaking more and more bolts if they are too tight, and losing more and more if they are too loose. The other things are basically up to you... Oh, and the caliper. That is important
