I went riding the other day and my buddy and I would race hard for about two laps and I would feel fine when racing, but when we'd get done, I would start to feel how tired I was. Physically I feel okay, but I get a burning feeling in my stomach. I'm not really out of shape physically, but what can I do to get rid of feeling like this. I know when I go four laps I feel like I'm going to pass out for about 10 minutes after the race. Is this normal??

I don't know anything about the burning in your stomach? But if your cardio is not where it should be (which mine isn't), you will really feel it obviously. So even though you aren't over weight, I don't know if you are in very good cardio shape since you don't exercise much besides riding once a week.

Maybe you could try to do some sit ups that way you can strengh up your stomach muscles. It might help.

was there any food in your belly? What about gatorade? I know that food and gatorade can make your belly upset when under stress/adrenaline/excitement. Gatorade they say is best if dilluted. For food anything acidic etc may be best to avoid. Just an idea.

Any kind of soda makes my stomach hurt while riding. I never have experienced a burning feeling though... its always just a general tiredness-out of breath or armpump. Try altering your diet before riding, eat anything you want 2 hrs before riding, and at about 30 mins before eat either a bananna or a granola bar, and drink only water. If you still have a burning feeling... I would talk to a doctor, as I have never experienced that, or known anyone who has. (except you).

Hmmm... the ulcer idea may have some merit. You are/were really stressed their for a while (I would have been in your situation). I would get it checked out just to be sure.

Im not to sure about the ulser thing Woody. Stress doesnt cause ulsers its bacterial. but stress makes it real bad when you get it.(something chemical) did you have any stressful times? and if so was there any slight stomach adjitaction(sp) before this? I do like the sit up idea, like Coach Cardwell says "Having a strong trunk is very important, its your centrail point of muscles." (Now if only I could take his advice more seriously and consistantly.)

madcow, ulcers are cuased by both. h. pylori. is the virus that will cuase ulcers, but there are also stress induces ulders. not all ulcers are viral.

Try asking me John, You could ask me about this problem. I have had 4 ulcers since 1989. All were genetic in nature. I have been checked several times for H. Pylori and it always comes back negative. Some people just have over active acid production and enlarged folds in the stomach lining. Woody, the ulcer or gastric reflux are somethings to look out for. I get scoped every five years both ways since I have had ulcers adn a strong fmily history of cancer. Do not play with this problem. Get checked out by your physician. Bill
