It was hot and the other day when we rode again, I never got the burning feeling. It could have been something I ate, but I also don't think I pushed it quite as hard as I did when I was getting the pain.

I do like the sit up idea, like Coach Cardwell says "Having a strong trunk is very important, its your centrail point of muscles." (Now if only I could take his advice more seriously and consistantly.)
I'm pretty sure it's not an ulcer because it's only when I'm out of breath and hot and it's higher than my stomach, it was actually about where my sternum is.

I think I will try doing some conditioning (sit ups) and also eating well. I don't think it's an ulcer because that is the only time I have ever felt it and as stated before it wasn't really in my stomach. It was more of a burning like you've been breathing hard burning. I'll try some things out. I was stressed there for a while, but not too bad, so we'll see how it goes this weekend when my buddy who makes me work hard goes with me again.

Woody,

I know hydration plays a huge part in your physical conditioning. Not just drinking a ton of water or Gatorade the day of the even but staying hydryated all the time.

I don't know if this would cause the burning sensation you are feeling but I know it has a huge effect on your overall feel.

Hydration is the key..I at least hydrate myself with 6 beers the night before I ride... As far as conditioning? You cant go wrong with 12 ounce curls!

It could have been hydration also because I had a huge headache that night and I only get that when I don't drink enough. Thank for all your help guys.

Satch, beer doesn't hydrate dude, it DE-Hydrates you. Although I have been guilty of that more then once as well.

Ummm...I am really not trying to be an alarmest...but: If you are feeling a "burning" sensation under you sternum when under strenuous conditions and/or heat that is not good. That can be chest pain related to angina, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, etc.

Again, I am probably taking your comment too seriously, but the RN in me just required that I mention those things.

I might have been roosted. The track we were on had a lot of big mud clods on it and my buddy got ahead of me a few times. I wish I would have had my chest protector then.

Well, I pushed it this weekend and didn't get the burning, instead I got major arm pump. I stayed up all night and didn't eat well. I don't think I'll do that again. This is killing me, if it's not one thing, it's another.

LOL, when you get it you will know exactly what it is.

It is when your forearms get SOOOO hard that you can barely hang on. Their are a lot of reason you can get it but it is mostly from just not relaxing. Being tired can cause it as well. Heck almost anything can cause it.
