Default Is it the carb?

Had a great day riding today. Felt fast in corners but sucked on the jumps worst than usual...doesnt bother me though...corners win races..

Anyway, the bike was running great! The jetting problem wasnt that bad..not that much smoke at all. The only problem was it sounded like the engine was breaking up in the high RPMS. Towards the end of the day, my bike bogs...REALLY LOW than dies. I figure ahh outta gas...fill it up and it fires up. 2 minutes later, LOW bog and it dies. The only thing I can think of is I was out of Yamalube so I was forced to mix Yamalube with Penzoil (sp?). My dad says its the carb and he wants to buy a rebuild kit for it. Does it sound like a carb issue? Thanks everyone..

Don't start jumping to conclusions too quickly. Try some fresh gas and a new plug before you go cracking anything open.

awesome Re: Is it the carb?

Maybe carb or gas tubes are clogged.
And also could be a bad spark plug.

LOLOL, you are going to put off actually setting the float on that thing until you are out of HS arent you.

GET THE TATOO!! rich bikes run crappy on top. they miss and breakup. bad float adjustments cause that. the warmer the temp and the warmer the engine the worse it is. get all that on the tattoo so you can remember it.

let me know when you find a "KIT" for that carburetor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we have diagnosed the carb issue a few times already and you keep asking, but not following our advice. I suspect that may be the source of Ossa's frustration and sarcasm.

Oh well I said in the thread that the jetting did not seem that off on that particular day. Sorry for not knowing breaking up in the higher RPMS is a jetting issue again. I was just wondering if it could be something else. Oh and that post by ossa was so funny...i think i need a jar to contain my laughter

Your issue today sounds like a plug, but jetting can be hard to diagnose rich or lean. Typically in the summer the air gets hotter and thinner which will make the bike run rich, it's exagerated at high rpm. Do you know what main jet is in it now?
