Lol, I was thinking if 80% of the top pro riders can't do it I don't think a quick instruction article is going to help me a whole lot. But if I could pull it off for the camera just once.........

There was a kid out at Village this weekend, He was fast, so I will give him that. But dang he tried over every jump to twist and turn, and it just looked funny. He was definitely using more energy. I think in Bubbas case, it is more natural.

Interesting article.

What I find funny is watching people trying to do it before they can even clear the jump!

They try and throw the bike around and scrub speed but come up short, get bounced around waste energy.

The scrub is a manouvre where the rider expends speed sideways so that he/she can hit jump faster and still land on downramp.

Same here!

I may read a 1001 article on how to do, but I am pretty sure I still won't be able to do it.

Lol, I would be better off spending time on how to jump the larger jumps!

A friend of mine has been experimenting with "the scrub". He told me that front wheel sliding is pretty damn scary and he's a pro rider. He breaks it out occassionally if the conditions are right (tacky soil, etc...) but said he'll only do it if he thinks it'll get him 1st. Myself, the only scrubbing I'm gonna do is on my bike at the end of the day.

I can go 1/3 of the way that far on a good day, a real good day. on a regular day all that happens is a small whip and a scare.

Im more into the Zacky poo scrub. I've seen this in person.........so I think under right conditions I could do the Zacky poo scrub. The best way to scrub speedon a jump is to roll it. I can do this and wave at the same time. Please don't try this if your new to dirtbiking

ROFL...I was going to say the same thing...I generally scrub speed by doing the following:

1. Always stay in 1st or 2nd gear
2. Just as you hit the face of a jump, let of on the throttle almost competely...just keep enough going to avoid going over the handle bars. If concerned, downshift to 1st
3. Never stand up

I hope those tips help. I can send video or photos if it will help.
