Broken Leg! Well, today started off as a normal, rainy day in Washington State. I decided to get my dad into taking me to Pacific Raceways (you washingtonians know it i bet) Anyways. The track was muck (Washington weather) and verry slick. I was having some problems with it in practice. I get on the line for my first (unfortunatly my last) moto of the day. I get a good start and was about 3rd or 4th to the first turn. After about 3 of my 5 lap race, I am racing in third. The person in 2nd place was just ahead of me. ends up falling down in one of the turns after a triple. So I'm like, "hey! I might be able to win this one!!" As I'm chasing down 1st place who happens to be one of my friends. He goes down off of this double double section. Not too hard. He picks up the bike and starts going again. Too bad for him I was right on his arse when he went down. I'm starting to like how this picture is turning out. I go past the finish line to grab the white flag. Thinking. "Wow, I have about a 15 second lead! in my first race back to this track in over 6 months!" I'm playing the scene over in my mind of me crossing that double double triple finish line jumps, me winning the race to the checkards. But I do not loose focus of making it through the next turn and obstical. As I double a triple, make a left hand turn. clear a table, table section, make my right hand turn into the whoop section. make it through that okay. still with a humungus lead. take a right hand turn railing the berm to scrub this small table before the peaked out double. As I land from the table, I gas the throttle hard, In doing so, I'm spinning the rear tire in the muck of the so called dirt. Off the face I fly, rear end kicked hard to my left, I knew right from leaving the face that I wasent going to make it. so I just pin the throttle and hope for the soft landing that I know isnt going to happen. I case the landing big time. the bike throws me to the left. (the bike is probaly turned at a 45* angle right about now) With this happening. some unreal things start churning inside my lower knee cap. I fly off the bike and do a few cartwheels down the track before coming to an unwanted hault. The paramedics help myself drag me off the track and put me on the gerney. Give me an ice pack to help the swelling in the leg. (we didnt know it was broken at the time) I had no power in the right leg (now broken leg) so I basicly hobbled with the help of the medics. My dad arrives on the scene and helps me gather myself. They give me 2 options. 1. Let me walk back to my pit under extreme pain. or 2. ride back on my bike whial my dad carries my socks and knee pads. Of corse, I take the ride back approach. as I arrive back in the pit. another fellow motocross racer and good friend throws his fist in the air as a sign of the best. I repeate it back to him. By now i'm pulling into my pit. Being lucky to get 1 finger on the clutch I somehow manage to pull it in to prevent from stalling. I sit with my good foot holding me up on my bike stand. My dad finally arrives back from the long walk to help me dismount my CR. I try throwing my broken leg over my rear fender. I get to about midway to my # plates and scream for mercy. With tears in my eyes from the pain. I find the strength to get off my bike. We load up and drive home. A good thing about my dad is his girlfriend. who is a nurse. We pull up in the driveway and she checks out my leg. I tell her my feet and toes are freezing. right away she's says "ohh that's not good!!" So my dad unhooks the trailer and he takes me over to the local medical center. I wait in a wheel chair before being put in the X-ray room. I lay on the cold X-ray bench for a good 30 minutes whial I have about a dozen X-rays taken. Since my leg is in shock, there is no way I can lay it flat. So we do the best we can with getting my leg down as far as my muscles will let me. Another 30 minutes later they come back and tell me I have broken my leg. just under the knee cap. We get it wrapped up and head on home. Where I am now. typing this in pain and wincing every 10 seconds or so. The most respectable part of me breaking my leg today is. I did it whial in the lead

I thought my day sucked. I took the CR500 out for some trail footage and ended up breaking my chain. No parts, so I had to push the beast back. I don't even want to get into the details LOL. Sorry about your leg man.

Sorry to hear about that, man. I bet my leg heals faster than yours. All kidding aside, just do what the docs say and take it easy for awhile. It's killing me to stay off my bike. I'm already losing my callouses for crying out loud!

I crashed last weekend out at mudslingers and I thought I had done the same thing to my left knee, I ended up just pulling or twisting it but I still get a minor pain for my muscles when I walk but it's getting better. I'm in no rush to go back to pacific especially after hearing how everything got all peaked out I was hearing the jump ramps were like freestyle ramps that just shoot you straight up and way out over the jumps, lost of complaining about over clearing things. Bummer about the leg man, do you know how you broke it like the bike flipped one way and took ya with it? I hate doing this myself but sometimes just let go of the bike, it's fixable. I shouldn't preach cause if I would have done that myself last weekend my leg wouldn't hurt. You'll heal and be back on the bike before long, my advice is stay away from pacific the track needs a redesign badly. oh ya btw the guy who designed this track broke his leg also on that same section! for the non locals hitting ground out at pacific sucks big time even in the mud it's still pretty hard packed. damn I was hoping I could of talked you n kw (kdub) into going to burnt ridge sometime soon.
