I don't have the 08, but an 04 and 07 CRF250r's my son and I share. I've mentioned it before but I've raced and owned both YZF 250's and 450's and CRF450 and my crf250's. the 04 crf450 I had I did race hard more than 80 races in 2 years. That is 2 classes at more than 20 evenst each year, 04 and 05. I did start breaking things on it, like hubs, and it started nickel and diming me 1/2 way thru year 2. that is why I went to the YZ250 2t I eventually broke my leg on. I basically gave up some performance preferences for reliability then. so hope this helps. The things I like more about CRF's are: 1. much prefer the cornering ability of crf's. the front end stick better, main reason I came back. 2. the crf's feel much slimmer and agile, although the weight is similar the feel lighter. more so in 05-08's. 3. the rider compartment/ergos feel just right for me at 6'00, even with stock bars...pegs, bars, tank ...still got my cr hi TAG's in the trailer 4. i like that they seperated gear oil and motor oil things I like better about YZF's : 1. stone reliable |

| our shop sells all 4 japanese brands and they had them but sold them quickly. word around our area is they will not bargain on the 08 crf's. retail or darn close to it. It's why I went with a left over 07 at near cost. by the end of 08 I'll be re-evaluating and deciding if I want to go back to a racing a 450 or just ride the 250f's for fun/ racing. The 09 CRF has EFI that may sway me. cold weather starts on a 4t stink, lol. Honda won't have it unless the have the bugs worked out. steering stabilizer ad black extras on 08's was not enough to sway me to pay retail. Last edited by joe346CBMX; 01-29-2008 at 02:31 PM. |

| Yeah, I think you are right -- I'll be paying retail if I buy locally. I don't think I could even find a black one. I'm not on the market yet anyway, so I cross that bridge when I get there. |

| I am pretty sure I won't be at a retail price with the guy I have been speaking too, our whole group of guys buy from him, and he does us right for the most part. But we will see. Taxes getting done next week.... |

In all seriousness though you what what I'm saying when you hit the corners knowing your not going to lose the front end it builds confidence and speed. When you have a leg that smarts when youdab it, it mnakes you overly cautious and slow. I got back on a honda in september and feel like I still have not come that close to my limit in cornering this bike. I haven't lost the front end yet, so that's exciting because I seemd to get that alot on the big YZF. oh on a side not if anyone has any hardware in their legs and has been contemplating removal, in my case it was helpful in reducing pain(along with a lot of prayers) and I'm back to jogging more freqently and even playing a little basketball again. Still hurts but much less since Nov. 27th. Last edited by joe346CBMX; 01-29-2008 at 04:11 PM. |
