At least you have seen the light, i too always thought that the yammie was the be all bike, but when we tried a few other brands out late last year we were pleasantly surprized how good the others handled and out performed the Yamaha.

The biggest differance I found between the Yam I bought last year and my Hondas was the fact it didnt turn as well as the Honda did, Thats why I sold it and went back to a Honda. Even though mine is a 250X model, it really turns well. Great in the tight woods. My CRF450 was great in the woods also, but this X really works good.

Jim, you arent really going to the Red side from the Blue side, just to the Black side.

That black bike looks really sharp. I'm usually not a fan of black bikes as they look beat up after a few rides but shiny new that looks good. It's not just plastic and wheels, I like the rear disk cover, clutch cover, engine case guards etc.

If you were to make your own black bike it would cost mega in comparison.

The dealers around here won't flex on the OTD price on the black ones but they are more flexible on the red ones.

Ahhh, got ya.

I don't think I will have an issue with that, I think my guy will work with me, but if not I got no issues with a red one.

If I can find the black one in another month and if the finances work out I will do just that.

Not sure how I missed this, but oh me oh my... Jimbo going RED -- now that's something I never thought I'd read -- EVER!

That black one has me chomping at the bit too. I just need to figure out the Red vs Yellow first.

Your not the only one that never thought it would happen, but it just fits me SO much better then my YZ does, I felt confident on the first lap, and overjumped everything on my first shot.

It will happen as long as finances allow, I have already made up my mind. If not then I will have one next year.

Thats the only hesitation I have, but I am not really a revver so I don't think I will have issues. The '07s did pretty well, my buddy Randy (bigtree686) has a 07 and he revs his pretty good and its still nice and tight.

I am gonna give it a go as I said, as in my mind its the best bike I have ever rode. The only bike i ever rode that I liked as much was my '03 YZ 450, loved that bike.

As long as they have valves, they will have problems at some point.

I consider them a maintenance item. Kinda like chain and sprockets. Once you go SS it's no longer an issue. My '03 only cost $300 for all new valves, springs, keepers, and installation. I don't consider it to be a problem at all. I had the bike 3 years before they needed replacing.

So Motoman, how's availability in your neck of the woods? I need to do some checking...

Also, are there actually any difference other than the rims and black everything?

No just the black scheme as far as I know. I haven't check on availibility yet, because I don't want to get myself to excited until I know for sure I can get it. I have resigned myself at this point that if I can't get a black one I will go red.

But I have a connection with a dealer who has friends.......

Yeah, red or black would be fine. I would want to see one first too. I'll have to go see if my local dealer has one -- if I can't find Black, I think I'll still be waiting to see how Yellow turns out. EFI has me a little nervous though. I'd rather wait for year 2.
