flasher Best Riding Jersey?

I'm looking for a really well made riding jersey, but I'm pretty new to MX gear, so can you all tell me who makes the best? : I was looking at the FOX Jersey Honda 02 shirt, Honda 360 pants, and matching gloves. Are these good?

What would you get?

(I've been wearing jeans, shirt, jacket, nike tennis shoes, and street bike helmet : )

I have tried Fox , Oneal and currently have the Thor Core 5 stuff. The Thor stuff is alot more durable in my opinion.

Forget the jersey and pants - get a pair of boots first.

Ditto, but never tried Oneal. I usually buy the year end close out stuff from Thor. I've been buying Thor since '99 with no problems, very happy with their product.

Missed this post, but good point. Don't skimp on boots and buy the cheap stuff. more than likely you will be unhappy or wearing them out quickly.

Boots, helmet, and protective gear for saftey! Spend your money on these first. Then buy the cool looking gear.

I have had lots of Fox and Shift gear. I just bought new Fox 360 pants and 02 jersey. I think if you just buy midgrade or better gear from anyone it will last and be comfortable. Most of the time it comes down to what brand you want.JMO

What happened to riding no shirt, cut of shorts, flip-flops, a cigarette hanging out your mouth with a mullet? Thats how we do it.

But seriously don't skimp on the boots. I'm new so I started with cheap gear and my boots get soft and mushy when they get warm, not much protection at all. I learned the hard way when I landed an jump with my foot angled a little too far forward. Wouldn't have been so bad with some decent boots.

Having suffered a serious foot injury, I completely agree with getting good boots. I've got Alpinestar Tech 6 boots and I like them so far.

I've got two sets of Thor gear and one set of AXO. So far, I like the Thor stuff better.

Motosports Outlet, www.motosport.com, is also clearing out the 2004 stuff right now so you can get it cheap.

I may not be able to ride worth a crap, but I look good.

First off, get boots. I recommend the Fox Forma Pro or AlpineStars Tech 8. If your on a tight budget you can go with the Tech 6. A new helmet would also be good, streetbike helmets are ok but they're not meant at all for motocross. The Fox Pro Pilot, HJC AC-X2, and plenty of others are out there. They are almost all good brands. As for gear, Fox and Thor make the best stuff imo. You cant go wrong with any of their stuff.

Currently I have two sets of Fox Strafer gear with Tech 8's and a HJC AC-X2 helmet.

I've heard that the inner boot on the Tech 8 makes them hot to wear in summer and as a result a lot of people prefer the Tech 6.

I have no issue with the Tech 8 and summer time.

I wear Thor Core gear in the winter and Fox 180 in the summer. For durability you cant beat the Thor IMO. The Fox 180 is lightweight and cool. But the best investment I have made was in knee and elbow/forearm guards; they have saved a great deal of skin peeling.

BTW...I dont buy this years gear anylonger....I always buy last years. Like Mike was saying you can get closeout stuff for only half price. I remember I paid 180.00 for just my Thor pants and jersey, I bought the Fox 180 pants and jersey for only 100.00 because it was from '04

Knee guards, no doubt. I've limped around with bruises on both knees after falling on rocks before. The SixSixOne knee guards I got with my 2002 CR250 took care of that problem. Definitely a nice addition.

I have SixSixOne elbow guards and I'm seriously considering not wearing them any longer. They seem to slide down my arms and really get annoying after a while. How do you keep them in place over your elbows?

Buy a pressure suit. It's only money.
Has anyone worn the Oneal Prodigy gear? I've worn Thor, Acerbis, and Oneal. I bought some Oneal Hardware gear and liked it but then I bought the '04 Prodigy pants and jersey and absolutely loved it! It is heavier than anything else mentioned in this thread and I prefer it 10 to 1. I just feel more protected. I'm thinking I'll buy this model each year just as the new model comes out. (The year-old model that is) I like the heavy feel. And I'm strapping on my new Asterisk knee braces right now to see if there is plenty of room in the Prodigy pants.

I have the SIX arm guards and I wrap my wrists and with my gloves on I have no problems keeping the elbow/forearm guards up

That's probably the difference; the ones I have are just elbow guards. They have nothing in the way of forearm protection. They almost look like smaller versions of the knee guards.

I'd really like to find a way to keep them in place while wearing them under my jersey. I think they'd be more comfortable that way, not to mention not getting covered in dirt while riding. I've got three jerseys but only one set of pads so keeping them clean for multiple day rides is a factor.
