Hi, which is the best motocross bike? And why is it the best? please type positive things and bad things about YOUR bike. My answer is ktm, 2004 as i know. Easy 2 handle, its a bit heavy but i like it, and easy 2 repair. In my country the spare parts are cheaper for KTM then 2 Yamaha for an example. And the engine delivers alot of power, without any after market exhaust-kit. And i did ride a KTm 450 sxf. The only bad part was (with my bike) it was a bit hard to start when it was cold, and yes, the valves was tuned. And the carburetor 2, and the ignition 2 Now im gonna try Yamaha and see whats good/bad on this Japanese bike.

First off welcome to I currently own a 2007 RMZ450, and love it. Turns good, starts well, great power (low end specifically). The bad. The stock bar bend is too low, the stock pipe is really stuffed up. Gets a little unstable in the chop at speed.

Mine is a toss up between the KTM 250SXF and the YZ250F. I also like the RMZ and don't care for the CRF250 or the KX250F. I love the KTM because it's not quite as rigid (steel frame) and the brakes and clutch are unbeatable. It felt very natural to me right off the bat. The bad: suspension is not quite as spot on as the YZ. I'm even comparing revalved KTM suspension to stock YZF suspension, though not too big of a deal. KTM parts are not as available in the aftermarket, which makes them a little more expensive. KTM has the best power by far, but had a little trouble getting used to the 6 speed, as I tended to stay in the lower gear. Had I ridden it more, that could have turned into an advantage. YZF - The Yami and Zuk feel the best ergonomically to me, though the YZ took me a little working to get the suspension feeling just right (sag, etc). Power is lacking a little bit, doesn't have the punch out of the corners that the KTM has (or the Kawi for that matter). The Yamaha also has the most reliable valve train in the business on the 250F's. I have had to adjust them very minimally and I know plenty of people who have beat the crap out of their YZF's.

I'm a Yamaha guy, really enjoy my 06 YZ 450F but I probably don't count since I don't ride MX

For me it was an easy decision to go with Kawasaki, for a stock bike they have the best allround engine, suspension, and equal reliability to the Yamaha. The 250f has power everywhere, bottom to top, most of the others lack it somewhere. I have some with over 100 hours of hard riding and they are solid, the 08/450 is a great SX,MX, and Enduro bike that you would ever want, just change the sprockets it will do them all well. The only thing i have replaced are the rear cheesy chain guides with aftermarket brands, good for about 30 hrs max.
