It's nice to see them using a new track for the nats. They ought to rotate some new ones in once in a while.

Even with the rocks Unadilla is one of the best tracks on the circuit. The grass and loam make for a great track and the gravity cavity is awsome to watch riders through.

I agree! I grew up about 20 minutes from Unadilla and can attest to it's greatness! Actually got to race the main track before they made a separate amateur track back behind.

Rocks? What Rocks?
Growing up there and not knowing otherwise, I figured everyone had that many rocks mixed in with the dirt!

Yup, they took away the National that was only an hour from my house. At least I still have Southwick and Unadilla.

Well, at least you guys still have one close by. Us Texans had to drive to Colorado for the closest one!

I missed this post,, sorry.

As some of you may know, I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy since May 19th and have been battling it ever since. I now have a Corneal Ulcer and addressing that. I'll be back 110% soon. In the meantime, please allow me to answer some questions.

Freestone eh?

What? I promise you won't be disappointed. If you are, you should not the second year because we try to listen to everyone and give you the best effort possible. Sometimes, it cost alot of money and this year, Tony Miller has spent plenty of his retirement to do this.

So when you fly into IAH/ Bush you just head north & you can base your operation out of my house, Char's or Mike's
and only 75 miles south of Dallas.

Davis, and the only time you will get to race on the track is the AMA Texas State Motocross Championship, November 10-11. This will be the only amateur event of the National track.

Why so what took so long? You have to have a willing seller of the event because each of the 12 NPG members (12 tracks owners) owns the rights to the venue.

The you have to have a willing buyer. Everyone in Texas has always wanted an AMA National but you have to be able to purchase such an event.

Then the other NPG members have to approve it through their process.

Then you have to meet the AMA's requirements for new venues. (ie: amateur track, parking, routes in and out, capable promoter history, etc.).

and the final question is:
Yes, Texas has hosted Nationals before. The last was June 5, 1988 at Good Times Cycle Park In San Antonio. Rick Johnson won the 250 class and Oklahoma's George Holland won the 125 class that year.

Rio's was an International event, much like the deNations.

Lake Whitney was last in 1983 I believe.

No politics. See other post to know what the process is. Anyone could have done it for the last 20 years. The keys words are 1. willing, 2. capable, 3. approved by NPG and AMA.
