Default Aluminum framed yamaha

I was thinking about buying a yz450f this year and was at a local dealership. After talking to the sales manager about buying one and how I liked the styling of the hondas aluminum frame better, he tells me "Well wait for next year then, yamaha is doing the same."

I never saw any info on yamaha releasing a aluminum frame bike in 2005. Is this true?

This is a good thread, I have heard lots of rumors and read a few articles about the aluminum frame YZ's. Yamaha has been testing the alumnum frame since around 1996 I think and they still havent found a frame that suits the Yamaha brand. IMO 2stroke will go aluminum next year and you will probably have to wait a year or two before you see it on the 4 strokes.

Be careful buying the 1st yr production model. All the manufacturers put out great products but history will tell you that the 2nd generation and beyond models are the one you want to wait for.

psychocruiser, yeah I love the individuality of the YZ frame, but the CRF and even the RMZ look sooo good. I'm waiting on the '05s to get here. They'll probably be in here August, right? I mean, what's the average release date of the following years bikes?

From what Ive read that aluminum frame isnt coming to fruition next year. Does someone have a link to the facts that state the 450 or any other YZ is being released with an aluminum frame? Please shed some light on where these tales are stemming from.

I wouldnt like it, I hope Yamaha stays with the steel frame or at least the small dom aluminum tubing like on the 125 pic above.

I wouldn't buy a first year model if yamaha comes out with the aluminum frame next year, if i remember right, honda had some problems with their bikes when they first came out with the aluminum frames.

I heard the YZ 2 strokes will be aluminum framed for 2005. There is nothing being said about the YZ-F's being aluminum framed.
