Well that one could be. I know for a fact that the rust is not "production".

That IT175 would make a great trailbike. We had one around here for quite awhile. you can put a set of 43's with disk on it and love it more, though the drum brake on them was pretty nice.

I think you guys who are lusting over that wr450 might be out of luck. I can't get the ad to link up here, but one of my swamp friends sent it to me and I will relay it here.

FOR SELL!!

My factory racer stunt bike 1987 cr 125 that roosts cr500s all day. I found me a deal on a WR450 up north in yankee land, I am a head'n north!! It has enough sand on it already that I wont need sandpaper on the seat.

call Buffy at BR 549.

So I think that one is gone.

Injury forces sale= I'm afraid it will brake while I'm riding it and get hurt.

As for buying a raced bike VRS a non raced bike? I usually find that people who race take care of their equipment. Regular maintainable is needed to race. People who trail ride often do just that, trail ride and never touch anything unless it wont start or is broken. I raced for years and when you go that fast and jump that high you need to know your riding a bike that is worthy of your input. I have never shied away from a used race bike for that reason.

Yeah, you have to look at the actual condition on each one. My biggest concern about a "too clean" bike is that all of the bearings from the wheels to the steering head and in between need replacing. find one where the wheels run true, the wheel bearings are without wobble, and the swingarm has no side to side in it and you probably found someone who took some time with it. It really is not so hard to tell. i think right now if a guy wasnt willing to let me check the valve clearances at least, i am making the offer like it needs headwork.

Race bikes are usually in reasonable condition. Especially if you can get into some higher end racer circles....

I have been offered a 2013 Crf 450, a practice bike with extremely low hours, tricked to the core ( pro-circuit worked head, pro-circuit exhaust, new aftermarket hubs and rims plus originals, original plastics, new chains, brand new airforks, 2010 conventional fork....) it is true maintained well...

I do not shy from a poster that ride and buys a new bike every year... Except those that thrash the bike for a season with no maintence but it isn't hard to judge those that do versus those that don't.....
