Sorry, dont have a camera. The only pics I have are on my sponsorhouse, they are from a few months ago and they are just berm pics. The reason they are putting linkage, twin spar, efi,They are doing this to please the public which is a very good idea because the majority like just that.I dont think they will ever go to aluminum frame though.
Yes that is the case, ktm DOES only sell so many bikes. They dont just churn em out like honda and the jap bikes.
You dont think they turn? That is because they come from the factory with the offset clamps in the position for straight line stability, turn the steering stem around and it wll turn better
I honestly dont care about what the mags say because they get a bike from the factory and dont really dig into them enough to set them up for themselves for best performance

1.) Yes, they do just kick 'em out like the Jap bikes. They're manufactured... not made by hand or anything. They might not make as many as the Jap bikes, but that's because they don't sell as many.
2.) False. I know when my guys at TW do a shoot-out, each of the factories send out a a couple bikes and a couple mechanics. The mechanics are there to make the bike fit the rider the best they can without changing the stock components. Why wouldn't they do that? They want their bike to win, right? So not only do they "dig into them," they're professionally "dug into."

Me thinks I'm upgrading next summer!

4 lbs lighter with 56.3 hp? Notably lower center of gravity? This bike is going to RIP! I'm still in love with my 06... but after seeing this bike I think I will hold off on getting my suspension done and start saving for a new beast.

If there are no first year bugs, I hope to pick up an 09 the day the 2010's hit the dealers.

I find it interesting that they gas tank isn't aluminum. I thought for some reason that they needed to be... though I'm not sure why??? I know the RM-Z is Aluminum.

I asked the ktm dealership when I was buying my bike and they said, "Well your lucky you got here before it came in because this is the last one we get".We could argue forever but as far as my dealership and I know they manufacture only a limited number of bikes.
The factories dont always come to support the bike,in 2005 yamaha didnt support there 250f for twmx,so twmx had a guy from fmf come and set it up the best he could

I wouldn't doubt that they'd say that to get you to pay full sticker value on it. And if you didn't, they definitely were getting more. Why would they take less than MSRP if they had the only one around? It's simple business man You make a lot to sell a lot. You don't want to limit your sells at all. I've been to plenty of KTM dealerships that have leftovers from '06 and '07.

And as far as your second point, you pretty much disproved your earlier point when you said they don't try and set them up for the rider. They clearly do... therefore the shoot-outs really are pretty valid. Obviously it's personal preferance... but KTM on the low side seems to be a pretty consistant trait throughout.

Cody, having worked at a KTM dealership as a sales person and managing the service department I can assure you that no KTM dealership has been unable to get a dirtbike. Some years they don't produce a great excess and will have to find another dealer to get a bike from but the bikes are out there.

KTM has hold overs because they don't sell all the bike the first year. Not the other way around.

That being said I was a die hard Yamaha guy, have ridden all the major bikes plus GasGases. (we sold all five majors) until I bought a Honda and rode it for a couple of days I didn't know you could ride a dirtbike without looking for something to bounce off for redirection. Now I simply turn the handlebars and the bike goes. No need to run into things anymore.

Like it or not that opinion is shared by a high number of people who have gone red.

Now please lets take the KTM talk to another thread as this thread is dedicated to the 09 CRF450R and we've already been told to take this somewhere else.

Though the new Honda 450 may be the most badass Honda to date, there is still one problem with it, and a huge one at that......

IT'S STILL A FRICKIN HONDA!!!!!!!!

It has to do with the EFI and needing a certain amount of fuel pressure I believe, apparently Honda feels comfortable using a plastic tank which probably saves weight so more power to them.
Come on all you KTM junkies, even the die hard YAMAHA guy is digging this red bike! I'll probably have my 06 until I'm dead, but its fun to see how the factories keep finding ways to make the bikes better.

Hmm. And at that time, you might be interested in trading that 450 for a friends 125?!

Some people don't like the white rear fender, I like it. I like it alot.

Honestly, I think that aluminum tank as a bad idea. I hope Honda never does that crap.

Sorry bro, We got up first thing this morning and headed to the lake. I don't get cell service out there so I could not call you. Did you come to Bend today? I told my 450 last night, that it might be eating some blue yammie today if we did not go to the lake. I'm pretty sure FreakZilla (that's my bikes name) was plenty mad that it did not get to smoke your clapped out yammie

Oh, I just want to say one more thing, then I'll stop hi-jacking this thread.

Up until now, all these bikes were fairly close.....well the Honda has always been #1 the others have been right there real close. Now, no other color will be able to get close to the red fire breathing mo'chine. So all you clapped out yammie, ktm, hodaka, maico moped lovers get use to coming in 2nd when the red monster is present, that's all yer gonna get fellers....On the other hand, atleast being second means your the first loser bwhahahahahahahaha LOL

Honda #1
Hodaka #2
Husky #3
Huffy #4
Then comes Yamaha #5
sukiyaki #6
Vespa #7
Moongoose (walmart brand) #8
I'm to tired to fill in the rest, but I think Ktm is someone around 23-24 place ha ha Just kidding Cody.

Ok, I'm gonna sit back and eat some now.

I've wondered the same thing, but somehow I doubt it too.

That was hilarious! As far as the tank, I thought they used aluminum so it wouldnt collapse under the vacuum created by the EFI pump. I guess either Suzuki was wrong or Honda developed/used a new plastic.

Guys, GasGas has had EFI on their thumpers for several years now and they have only ever run plastic fuel tanks.
