Default 1st Race race report

I Survived!!!! That was the number one goal.

Okay let me preface this with an excuse right of the top. I raced in the 30+ class at a non-AMA sanctioned track that didn't have a Senior 1 - A and B, they only one Senior 1 class. It was full of guys from the Heavy Weight Pro, Light Weight Pro class and the 250 B class. Put it this way, the guy that one my class also one the Heavy Weight Pro Class.

OK excuses over.

There where 38 bikes in the class. The first moto I was one of in the first five out of the first turn. I actually got the jump on the gate and most of them passed me as I went into the first turn. I dropped back very quickly and was running about 18th for two laps. I stalled it in a corner and couldn’t get it started. Dropped back to LAST! I ended up 34th. For moto #1.

Second moto start almost the same went into turn one 4th came out 6th and dropped back to 13th or 14th where I stayed for two laps then the arm pump and lack of conditioning kicked in and I couldn’t hold the pace anymore. I dropped back quickly. I ended up 24th in the second moto. I finished a 27th over all.

Next time I ride the 250 C class at that track. All in all I had a blast the track was in perfect condition and well maintained. Nice track though, some sweet jumps and very fast.

I'll have some video from it soon.

Sounds like good results to me for a first race back! Glad you had fun, cause that's what it's about, right? Congrats! I'll be interested to see the outcome when you get away from those "fast guys".........Go get 'em!

I can truly appreciate your experience MV. My very first race ever was +35 class. I got lapped by Kirtwell and 2 other riders. After that, I rode beginner classes but I have picked up sufficient speed that I might go to an over class soon. They don't have A,B,and C classes around here. Congratulations on the starts! That is one of my three goals everytime I race. Get the holeshot, stay on two wheels, and have fun. I don't always get the holeshot and I don't always stay on two wheels. The "having fun" goal seems to be the easiest one to reach. And just like Ernie said, if I drive myself home, my fun is complete. I scored a victory. Keep on racing bro!

Great report.

You may have mentioned, but how many laps was it? The reason I ask is we were riding the MX tracks at Durhamtown yesterday and I realized my conditioning is still lousy (and I have been working on it). I go two laps and my first sign of fatigue is almost shooting over the bowl turns. I still can't imagine trying to keep a race pace for say, 10 laps.

Again, good job!
