| I am going to add a bike to the garage this winter, and wanted the opinions of our four stroke guys and gals here. I have been riding my CR125 for about 5 years now, and am going to make the jump to a 4-stroke. I am pretty torn as to if it will be the CRF250R, or the CRF450R. I am a novice rider, 6 ft tall, weight normally stays around 180, and going to be 30 years old this November. I work out on a normal basis, so I am in shape. Any opinions on which bike is better suited for someone with the specs I listed? |

| Have you ridden the four strokes. If so what feels better for you? My first pick for you would be the 450, just because that power is so much fun. |

| Id get the 450. For your weight, the 250Fs just dont have the mustard in some situations, like sand, loam, hills, all the stuff I like to ride. |

Why don't ya just dangle a donut and a soda in front of me and yell ... "Here Porky!!" LOL I totally agree with you, being in this weight range kind of puts me on the heavy side for the 250, and on the light side for the 450. Oh wellz! Most of my riding is done on the track, not really much into the trails. Which brings another concern. I am going to start riding the 30+ class here pretty soon, and have noticed that most of those guys are on the 450's. When did decisions become so hard? |

| If I weighed 180 I would get the CRF250 and add a pipe to it and HAVE FUN! |

| Your size and weight...I would choose the 450 especially in the 30+ class. |

You mentioned you are going from a CR125?... well, if you get the CRF250R, you Will notice a difference in power, that's for sure. Your height and weight would be fine for both I think. But IMO, no one! is ready for a 450 untill they can absolutely Thrash a 250F around the track wanting/needing more power.. and if you can do that, then your a pro. I would love a 450! simply because of the extra power that would help me out in some situations, but then again in other situations I know I would be slower. but that's just me though So yea, I say the 250R man. |

| I was in a simmalar situation going from a 125 to a 450 (04). Im about the same size as you and was sick of trying to wind out my 125 to get over big doubles out of corners. Id recommend the 450, its so much easier to ride/jump but you'll have to learn to time jumps better. My biggest problem was overjumping everything,,but was well worth it. |
