Default 03 CRF 450 value?

I found an 03 CRF 450R that I could pick up on the cheap ($1800 or less) and I'm considering doing one of two things- either buy it and re-sell or (gasp) buy it and keep it, then sell my YZ to get rid of the bill Flipping it is probably my best option, because I'll have to borrow the $ from somewhere to buy it in the first place. I haven't seen it or photos yet, and don't have much info yet other than the guy is selling to pay medical bills.
As far as I remember the 03 was a pretty solid model as long as it was properly cared for- is there anything in particular I'd want to check out on it? The airbox is the only thing that comes to mind other than the regular stuff to check on a used bike.
I think there's a decent chance I could turn the bike around for a little extra $ if it's not a roach. What do y'all think?

IMO 2500 tops for one of that year. Look around and you will see the yz450 going for that if not less. I would not buy it unless I was going to keep it.

Chase - I am not sure of their value, but I can tell you they are darn sure fast and responsive. I am still contemplating about starting to rides Garretts 03 again. Not sure. The only thing I would change is I miss the 5 speed tranny. Not a real big fan of the fours speed.

They are fun to ride though!

Macho, when you say "the YZ 450" are you talking one of similar year or my 06? I haven't been paying much attention to the used bike market as of late so I don't have a good idea of what things are selling for. I'd hope my 06 would bring down more than that!

Yes, my YZ is an 06 and I bought it new. Low hours (22 I think) and I don't know that you could find a cleaner 06 very easy- it's been well cared for since day 1. I don't want to sell it, but living off a single income right now with an 80 mile daily commute to work is making it hard to get by, so I'm exploring ways to help get rid of some of the bills.
Macho- NOT A CHANCE

Garrett's bike is worth far more than the average 03 bike Mike.

Agreed- as one of the priviledged few who have had the opportunity to throw a leg over Garrett's 450 I'd say that bike holds more value than any 03 out there, especially for Mr. Berg.
Still haven't heard from the guy on the CRF but when I talk to him if it sounds like a solid bike I think I'll go for it, and hope that I can turn it around quick.
