Default Three Palms 11/21/07

I went out to 3P with my dad today and had a lot of fun. The tracks were pretty wet/sloshy, so it was slow going for the majority of the day.

The extreme track as so slick that you couldn't go anywhere, so I left that alone. The main track was decent, the finish line table was more of a battle to get that smaller table in front of it (it got easier later in the day as the mud hardened). I was tempted to try the triple step up on the main track, but it was a slosh pit in front of it. The only guy who I saw try it (who was MUCH faster than me) cased his brains out and never tried it again. The river track was fun, being wet didn't really change the traction to much since its so sandy (maybe even made it better). I had fun out there with two older guys on Yamaha's and one of them eventually showed me how to do the big table top on that track. We both were having a hard time getting enough speed, and then had to seat bounce as hard as we could. Every time we would try it we would both stop and shake our heads at each other, since we came up short about 2/3 of the time. It was fun though, the suspension on the new CRF was amazing... I absolutely couldn't have done it on my Yamaha (well, it would have been painful).

Enough talk, pics will be up as soon as I get them sorted out and uploaded (20 mins or so)

Pics Added:

Take off (table on main track)

Finish line table on main track

Reentering the atmosphere I'm such a loser for saying that...

Table zoomed out

Casing brains out on the table out at the river track

Bouncing as my suspension unloads, I got air!

Whoops section (river track)

Being a goon, I'm actually saving (vrooooom) inside my helmet

One of the times I actually cleared that table

This landing felt a bit better than the other

Comming around the sweeper

I wish i would have been able to make it out there.
We ended up being just a few minutes away actually, but my mom was with me and my dad, and she didn't want to go

I would have only been able to hang out and watch, but it would still have been fun for me.

I shall wait for the pics.

Look at you go Miles!

That table on the main track skeers me. I'm surprised it wasn't more of a mudfest out there today, I guess it didn't rain out here til later on?

More pics? Please?

Nice pics, and riding, but I think you got the date wrong unless you have a time machine?

That table skeered me too! I think today I finally got comforable hitting it. I always land really nose high untill I am comfortable enough to drop the front end, and I finally got myself to drop the front tire on it today. Its really not that bad (easy to say I know..) you just have to really commit to clear it. Comming up short isnt too bad either, just a clunk of the suspension bottoming.

The main track was pretty muddy in a few areas, but I think all that sand on the river track just soaked it up. It didnt rain untill about 5 mins after we got the bike into the back of the truck. On the way home we drove through the brunt of the storm, we even passed through a bit of hail.

My dad took a bunch of pictures, but they are all of just about the same thing. I posted most of the interesting ones, I'll look through them again and see if there are any from other sections.

Looking good Miles. Only suggestion I'd make is when you're in the air nose high like that get over the bars. You can control the bike a lot better when you're in a neutral position as apposed to being far back.

Congrats on the river table!

Thanks griebus, thats definately one of the big things I need to work on. I tried to hit both of those tables a bunch-o-times today to work on loosening up in the air. I'm gettin a bit better... I was able to drop the nose on the Main track table once I got comfortable.

Ohh yeah, rolling out to the extreme track I took a look at your crazy double and thought to myself "This is stupid..."

I was going to try to learn everything else but it was just way to slick to do anything out there. That hardpacked dirt had a layer of slick mud on it.

Hahaha... that's exactly what I was thinking as I charged the corner knowing I was gonna try it the first time. I was like "Seriously...? Is this necessary? Oh well, here we go!"
