Char and I were talking about the boot issue the other day and it's one of those thing that you just never know if a better boot would have helped or not. I have the Alpinestars Tech6 boots but I think if I had the best (whatever they are) I would have just snapped the leg higher up. It was just an awkward way to land.

I remember one of the docs in the ER at Nocona saying it looked like a compression fracture. I'm not completely sure what that means but it doesn't sound like a boot issue.

You weren't stopped in the same spot as I was!

Jedi, I'm glad you were paying attention there at the ER. All I remember was the young lady doing my IV sayin it was her 1st week on the job! That would explain all the spilled blood while trying to get the IV started...

Here is some important info for you. I reset my enduro computer just before starting my bike and I just went outside (first time since Sunday) and curiosity got me so I turned the computer on to see how far I went and my top speed... this is embarrassing!

Total Distance: 0.14 miles, half of that was from Char pushing the bike back to the truck.

Top Speed: 16 mph oh boy...

LOL. Sorry, I shouldn't laugh, but I was guessing you went no further than a tenth of a mile.

And..them 426's are freaking HEAVY bikes, especially in the sand.

You should have made one of those guys kick start it for you and then rode it out. That's a lot of bike to push through beach sand... uphill!! Machogurl!

Hey Bunny boy, I must have missed this post. Sorry to hear about your ankle. Looked pretty brutal from the pic. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Here is the latest update I posted in the mod forum. I should have posted it here as well.

I went to the doctor today (last Wednesday) and they took x-rays and repacked the gauze on the incisions. Let's just say I will have some cool looking scars and they are a lot bigger than I thought they were! I also have more titanium pats than I was told. there is an incision that runs from the bottom of the ankle to mid calf on the outside. That is where they put in the plate. I have 7 small screws holding that in place and two long screws going through the tib and fib where they connect at the ankle. those two screws are the ones they are going to have to remove before I can put any weight on the foot. The inside has a 6 inch incision that runs across the ankle where they put two more long screws in to hold the fib in the ankle socket. Those are a part of me now as well as the 7 small screws and plate.

The doc said it looked good and everythingis straight so I have to go back on Mon day to get the staples taken out - that should take a while! I'll then be put into a boot which will be more comfortable but will then be scheduled to have the two screws removed. After that, I can go back to work and start putting weight on the foot and excercising it a little. Should be between 7 to 8 weeks until I am released so there is still a slight chance I can make the Colorado trip. It will depend on how my leg feels and how much muscle I have built back up.

I'll get the x-rays from the hospital of both pre-op and post-op.

Here is a picture Jedi sent me that looks almost exactly the way my foot looked with the broken ankle.

Thanks Dr. Mark. I will try to hobble into the hospital and get a copy of the pre-op and post-op xrays.
