Splendora Ride 11-27-04 Pics!!

Yesterday morning I headed to Splendora with my family to ride with the ATM gang. MxMike, BigMaico, PopFuhre, Flyin240YZ (?) Alex, MxSam, KTM250rm, OldSchoolFool were there and if I left someone out I apologize.

PopFuhre went out to check the track Saturday to see if we were rained out and although muddy the track was gonna open. We were already in route when BigM called to tell us "It's on!!" We arrived at the track at noon right behind the Fuhre crew.

The track was MUDDY in spots and reminded me of Mosier from the weekend before. Before and after the big sandy turn in the back section was 12" deep in slop . I crashed there once....it was wide open through there all day long and hope for the best! LOL BigM pulled a Psyklone and got cross rutted in the slop and his bike flew off to the left putting him right in a small creek bottom! Luckily for BigM...no trees were there. It took three of us to pull the 525 out of the mud. While we were getting the bike out 2 other riders crashed right beside us! I ran over and lifted the bike off the guy's leg and said to myself..."OK...I am beat from lifting bikes!! You guys are on your own now!" LOL There was muddy slop before the triple step up but otherwise it wasn't that bad. The track started getting better (drier) as the day wore on but also got rougher.


I did get the honor of riding BigMaico's KTM 525 yesterday. Those of you who have ridden one of the monsters know....it's a wolf in sheeps clothing! I went out on the track and short shifted the bike. The first thing I noticed was the huge amount of torque the bike makes. I doubled through the rhythm section with the slightest "blip" of the throttle. The next thing I realized was the forks...THEy ARE SWEET!! If I can get my forks set up to be anything close to those I will be in heaven. I made about 3 laps and started to come in and BigM said "get out there and hammer it!". I said ok of course and went out and pushed it a little harder. On a few of the straights I opened it up and let me tell you.....that bike is a rocketship...if you can hang on! LOL I jumped the finish line jump and then hammered it in 3rd gear and the front wheel never touched the ground until the next step up jump!! That is ALOT of bike.

We rode another practice after that but the sun was blinding.....heading up the triple step-up you could not see anything because the sun was right in your face.....not a good thing LOL. I got pimped on by OldschoolFool during that practice.....that guy can ride!!! I called it quits after that and just hung out with everyone.

MxMike was running around with his video camera so there is sure to be some good stuff come out of that! PopFuhre cooked hot dogs for everyone and chowed down on them! OldSchoolFool brought the old 82YZ for me and I can't thank him enough for letting me have it. We had a great day, no one got hurt and I am getting plenty of practice riding in the mud! LOL

Thanks for posting the pics. Looking at them brings back so many memories. Man I wish Splendora was closer . I would like nothing more then riding around with Ya'll.

By the way... Did this happen on the lap you were riding for me?

Great pics... I too wish splendora was closer... It's a great track.

The KTM is a Real man's bike, and appearently I don't qualify... Dang it's fast.

Char...you had a blast!!! That track was fun even in the slop! I was sliding all over the place in the back sections and laughing my butt off at the same time......mostly because they guys in front of me were all over the track and their bikes too! Good times......
