A welcome return.
Batman usually takes the summer off from dirt biking and spends his leisure time at the lake boating and jet skiing. Our local crew has dwindled a bit due to various issues. Only two or three of us ride regularly now and the fun factor is still way high, but he was missed this summer.
Batman and I were on the phone a few times last week discussing the weather. We’ve been getting more rain than usual and trying to plan a ride in between showers. So we settled on a plan to hit the only thing we have left that we can call a “local” track Sunday. It’s about 10 minutes out of town, has a decent MX track, and a great cross-country course consisting of about a 5-mile loop. $10 to ride all day.

The moisture on the track was holding well and it was absolutely PERFECT in the trees. I think he pushed me to a new level out in the trees. I was skeered a few times!

He also convinced me to hit a speed double on the track that I’ve never hit. It takes fifth gear on my 250F ‘cause there isn’t much lift on the launch. Smooth as butter as long as you don’t come up short.

Thanks to his initial coaching, I hit it 8 or 10 times before the day was over.
The track has a healthy dose of tables, whoops, and doubles. We spent the early part of the day there but, as the temperature climbed, we migrated to the trees for several hard laps in a row.
Took a break to grill some burgers and bench race long enough to get fired up for another ride. And ride we did. I now have blisters under a couple of my callouses.

Richard was the really old guy of our crew today. I think I’ve mentioned him before. At 65 years young he has just as much fun as the rest of us. He is an inspiration to say the least. Always has a story worth hearing from the past.

Here’s a shot of him trying to climb out of a canyon back in January.
I apologize for not posting more pics. I didn’t plan on posting anything about the ride but it turned out to be worth posting about. I wouldn’t have
any pics if Batman hadn’t insisted on taking some of me over the speed double. He said we needed proof of my first time over. And I must admit, 5th gear and doubles don’t really sound very appealing to me. It was a great way to spend the day. Welcome back Batman! You have a way of bringing out the best in us.
