Default MMI II - Ride Report w/pics

I probably should have done this a week ago (or maybe more), but we've just been busy.

As everyone knows, we loaded up the family (Beverly Hillbillies style) and hopped in the truck for the 20 hour drive north. It was fairly uneventful and we made good time. This is a selfish plug for my kids...they really travel well and don't complain a whole lot. We pulled into Jim's around 1:00 local time and were amazed at the bumper crop of dandelions.

One other thing I noticed was the difference in road kill. Here in Texas we have armadillos, raccoons and the occasional cats & dogs. Not in Michiana though..they have colorful roadkill

We unloaded the bikes just in time for the skies to open up and pour down on us. After it quit raining, a few of us got geared up and headed out to ride in the slop. Thankfully Jim had taken me around the track in the golf cart so I knew what to expect... ginormous, steep jump faces, a table top the size of a small building out in the middle of nowhere and a couple of doubles that looked nearly impossible to clear. I thought to myself... "Self, get used to rolling everything because that's how it's going to be this weekend."

As the Doc posted... I got up close and personal with the terra firma more than once. Thankfully he was there to capture the moment with that lightning fast camera of his. Thanks Doc!

Jim's...ummm... better half made us a great dinner and we stayed up pretty late shooting the breeze, or something like that. It was really more like a big party, it's a good thing Jim's neighbors aren't too close. I'm sure we were pretty loud that night.

Saturday morning was absolutely beautiful and we opted to ride at Jim's again rather than hit Log Road because the forecast was calling for more rain. We didn't really get anymore rain, but man did the wind pick up that afternoon. So much so that I was content to shoot pics most of the day and even then, the wind about knocked me over a few times.

The face of the long table, pics really don't do it justice:

Randy workin the tall table in the back:

A view of the track from Jim's deck )sorry about all the dustbunnies:

Jim on his Kubota (maybe that bumper crop of dandelions will sell high enough that he can buy a big tractor):

Randy and his little hambone...like father, like son:

A full shop is a happy shop!

I think this is his race face:

And this is what the kids did pretty much all weekend. If they wouldn't have gotten hungry all weekend, I wouldn't have known they were there!

Woody demonstrating his mad pipe cleaning skills:

Sunday the track had dried out quite a bit, but it was absolutely beautiful weather. We rode quite a bit and I finally found the nerve to hit the double-double..just not out of the corner. I asked Jim to pace me and I followed him right over...sure was much easier than I expected it to be! What a cool feeling though! It was the first time I've cleared any sort of gap since my little dirt sample last summer. I was pretty jazzed about it!

All in all...a killer weekend. I know there is plenty I'm leaving out and I'll probably add to this thread as I remember it. Jim...thanks so much for everything! We can't wait for next year!

Woody, Doc, Kenyz, Bigtree and all you Michiana boys.....thanks! We had a blast!

It looks like I missed a lot of fun... except maybe for the road kill.

Keep the pics coming. I have to have something to make my kids regret not getting in the truck and heading over.

Oh man great report Char, I am with the others though, we need more pics, you have TONS of good ones.

I would like to thank everyone for coming up and making it a fabulous weekend, Kim me and the kids just had a wonderful time, and I simply can't wait until next year to do it again, I already have some thoughts for next years ride.

It was GREAT riding with everyone again, I put 7 hours on my bike and killed 6.5 gallons of gas that weekend, so suffice it to say we had a good time.

I can't wait till October and GMB.

Mc Millan

Miles

Biddle (I think)

Poor Effie (she was pretty upset after this, apparently she has a fear of heights)

Effie's never been this close to the ground in a corner without tipping over either

Hambone

Miles

McMillan

Shoup

Motoman

McMillan

Motoman

Hambone (I really like this pic)

Woody...with Jim in the way

Miles

Hope ya'll enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed shooting. I've only got a few hundred more to sort through...as well as some helmet cam footage to put together. I wouldn't hold your breath for that though...it would seem I'm going racing this weekend.

Cycle Ranch here we come
