Last Man Standing 2007

Wow, what a day yesterday! Don't have time for a lengthy post now but will just say that David Knight has been defeated! I have plenty of pictures but need to process them first.

We left just before the end but the race was pretty much decided unless one of the 2 finishers had a problem. Three people qualified for the night race: David Knight, Polish rider and Erzberg winner Tadeusz "Taddy" Blazusiak and 10 US National Observed Trials Champion: Geoff Aarron.

David and Taddy had an awesome start and were sid by side over the first "rodeo enduro" section of tires and other man made obstacles with Geoff in close contact. The race went on and I had the privilege of sitting next to the father of the man that put the event on and he had a radio so we heard the real time events as they went through each check. Knighter and young Taddy were passing each other for the lead for the first 20 or so miles until Knight got stuck on top of a hill and lost a couple of minutes to Taddy. At that point, Geoff on his Christini Two Wheel drive KTM300 XC-W caught back up to them. Taddy started pulling away. We got the news a short time later that Knight stopped at one check and said he was feeling sick. He went a little way farther, stopped and threw up then took off again. He pulled out of the race shortly after that.

Taddy was in first with a 17 minute lead heading into Texas Stadium and had no problem getting through. Geoff came through and also lost no time there so it was on to Triple Threat which was the last really hard part of the course. We went back to camp to watch the finish line which was a 15' vertical wall of rocks the event staff hand made and looked intimidating! We heard they were still about an hour away so we decided we had suffered the cold, drizzle long enough and left. It was supposed to have been about 75 degrees but the cold front moved in quicker than they had planned on so it was about 48 with damp air that caught many off guard as they were wearing shorts.

I'll post my pictures later and hopefully the official results. What a great race!!

P.S. Next year's Last Man Standing race will be held in a quarry in Utah...bummer!

FYI - Taddy has only been riding "big bikes" for 6 months!!!!

I've just been reading up on this, Keeto. Only two people finished both laps?!?! Word is Knight has a respiratory infection. Last Man Standing is really becoming one of the premier races in the world for the tough guys!

There were only three that qualified for the night lap. To make that final race, you had to be within 1 hour of the finisher. Only two others masde it within that hour so the night race and final lap was only Taddy, Knight and Aarron. After Knight dropped out when he got sick, there were only the two guys left and they both finished. One thing that is noteworthy is that all three of the guys that started the night race were world class Trials riders at one point. Coincidence? I don't think so!

Hey jedi we thought ADA was tough,This puts our riding in the kids section.
Too bad its ice and cold outside.We could have rode today.
