Default A Great Weekend With Pics: ADA, OK X-Country Race.

I wanted to work this race since I hurt my back last week.Jedi,rbm33,D morgan,Scotty P. Char and her other half Danail all race it.OH yeah a new one Scott wolf +40 AM.

Man I can say working the race sucked. I hurt more today than if I have raced. The quads worked me more than the others. You would think they would know to downshift on an uphill."they didnt"

This was the first time I worked one of the races and I know what the occra crew gos through now ."hats off to them"

Crf jedi looked good in the race.He crashed the last lap right where i was working.I wished I had a camera then.

The sitting around at camp was the best time I had
all weekend ,Thanks guys

Its a big family get togather at camp. But some guy needs to fix his generater on his RV,It was about to smother us with fumes."It was mine"he he

Too bad some of us weren't informed about it. I would have loved to have been there to take some pictures...

I have a few pics to upload, but I'll probably do that tomorrow.

I just wanted to say we had a great time hanging out with the OK crew again. I just can't say enough about how nice everyone is. Just remind me never to be there right after my birthday.

The course was gnarly, but fun, in a sick, demented sort of way. Daniel sure liked it though. He must have done 5 or 6 laps on Saturday for practice and then raced 5 laps on Sunday. He still says he isn't sore, go figure. He did great and had a blast, so you know we'll be back.

I had fun too, even with a flat rear. Sure am bummed I didn't finish the race.

Here's a couple of shots of one of the canyons we crossed each lap. I purposely waited 'til some kiddos were playing to give a little more realistic view. It was a good 60' straight down and straight back up! You could really launch outta that baby! I got skeered a couple times.

This was my first race where I had to face so many man-made obstacles. Several places on the track had large trees laid across it. There was a series of logs to cross in one section and then we had a choice of climbing some huge dump truck tires or tackling some logs. Most of us chose the tires. Anna climbed them as we were heading for the bonfire.

And here's a couple of shots during the race.

I added a link to the pics in Batman's post. Here's another link to the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
The weather was absolutely perfect. The course was about 6-7 miles long and included what they called a motocross track. The jumps were dangerous and I saw three NASTY crashes that kept me from getting overly brave. It was hard-pack and SUPER dusty. The rest of the course included some extremely tight trees. Bar-banging trees. I'm serious! There was one water crossing that changed each lap and OCCRA had a worker stationed there to give you the go ahead when the rider in front of you had finally made it up the slick, rutted incline above the water. Lots of crashes there!
I made 5 laps in an hour and 46 minutes and was completely shot when I finally saw the checkers. I couldn't even talk. Vocal chords just wouldn't work.
Daniel and Char made the long drive north to race with us and Daniel raced in my class. I think we had twenty riders in our class and Daniel managed a 6th place finish. I had to start backwards due to some seriously anal OCCRA officials and managed a 10th place finish.
Char found herself fighting a rear flat tire on the very first lap. We were all bummed for her. I know she was really wanting to experience the whole X-country thing and see how she measured up.
I think rbm33 got 3rd in +40 Expert even with a nasty crash. We experienced the entire spectrum of a weekend of racing. Waking to the hum of generators, crashes followed by maintenance, kids whining, tiny naps caught whenever you get a chance, nervousness before the race, high fives for a job well done, and just plain old good camaraderie.
Today was a HARD day at work but it was worth it!

Well, turns out I took even fewer pics than I had thought.

This is probably my favorite from the weekend though. Jerad waiting for his race to start.

and this one showing just how dusty it was...

of course, there was this goofy looking course worker...

Like I said though, there aren't many at all. I was too busy having fun visiting to get my camera out at all on Saturday. And Sunday I had a whole swarm of butterflies in my tummy...

Just kiddin I knew it wasnt going to be ready early.

Great pictures! Looks like fun guys and gurls. We need to all get together (after I get to where I can ride again) and ride an enduro. We could all get on the same row or adjoining rows (4 to a row) and have a blast! What say you?

I can ride right now - as long as I don't have to stop and put my foot down with much pressure. The Doc said it will be "a while" so I made him be honest with me. He said it will probably be late Oct. or November before he would recommend me riding much at all. The bones are still healing and the tendons are in need of a good work out to get the flexibility back as well as strength in the leg.

I'll be bak! I just love reading everyone's riding reports and looking at the pictures! That BBQ made me drool. You guys don't go hungry and I like that!
