Default A Great Ride With Old Friends.

The weekend ride with my local crew just didn't gel this time. Some are sick and some are just out of pocket for one reason or another. So after a couple of emails, I headed south to the Lone Star State for a ride with DPW and Lawdog. Nocona has always been one of my favorite tracks and it was great riding there again. It was a little chilly upon arrival but turned out to be a sunny and very pleasant January day close to 60 degrees with light wind. It was all about enjoying the ride and we used up a solid 5 hours of the day just riding and bench racing. Riding with these guys is much like riding with my local crew. I trust them to hold their line and not ride over their head. Lawdog doesn't mind rubbing elbows with anyone and if I were fast enough I might even lean on him in a corner. He is solid as a rock.
The whoop monster claimed a couple of riders but no ambulance appeared so the day was good overall. I think I am the only one to taste dirt. DPW made an outside pass out of a rhythm section and I was thinking he'd go high in the berm. I drove hard for the inside rut thinking I might just pass him back. Maybe he was reading my mind as he dove down for the same rut. I figure, "Ok, I'll eat a little roost but I am all over him". Don't really know what happened but he threw out some sort of anchor and I was forced to grab a handful of front brake as I was accelerating hard. Took a tumble but got back to the bike and grabbed the clutch before it died. Always a small victory.
I gotta say it was great riding with these guys again. A group of us raced an entire MX series back in '05 together and the three of us are the remnants of that group.
I forced myself to snatch my camera for a few shots. I should have taken more but we were caught up in the ride. It was fun guys.

60 in January does it get any better? First of all sorry for the little brain fade in the corner....I turned around and saw you picking up you bike and was thinking..."oh dang"...anchor or could have been the whole boat..

It was a great day of riding and catching up. You need to visit Nocona a little more often.

Don't feel bad about that at all. I was actually laughing inside my helmet.
And you are right. I need to ride there more often. I think a couple of rides is all it would take for me to nail that rhythm section solid.

Was a really great day with Jedi and DPW. Track was good today, was a bit colder than I like but pleasant later in the day. I saw the alleged anchor toss briefly, and I certainly saw Jedi catch a small soil sample. Good save on the clutch, though.

I would really hate to have been behind me coming over that off camber. Roost looks brutal! Wish we still had a NTex crew to go riding, but it appears that all that is left of the crew is DPW and I. (with Jedi from the far North).

Great day. Thanks for coming down Jedi.

Dude. Get out of your legal, political, correct-terminology mind-set for a bit. I think he actually brake-checked me. Just didn't want to throw him under the bus on a public forum.
Any way you look at it, it was a great ride.

This is a perfect example of what is all about. Friends hanging out with friends...it just doesn't get any better.
