| I was wondering if any of you near the Gulf coast have plans to ride this weekend. We have/had plans to visit Spendora but it may be too wet after the rain they are expecting. We would like the chance to meet up with some ATMers if any one knows of a family friendly place. I guess if we don't go out of town, we could always hit the trails at forest hills Last edited by mxmama393; 04-23-2007 at 09:07 PM. |

| Atmore MX Park is in Atmore, Alabama, Mossy Head is actually West Florida Motocross, north of DeFuniak Springs and baker is in Baker, Florida. I know that the people with RV's have to bring generators to all of these. Pretty primitive actually as far as hook ups. I am trying to return to riding after a 10 month lay off so I probably won't be much fun to ride with. John has to put up with my groaning and pain pills or else do without. Bill |

| Here is the Gulf MX.com link: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Go to Alabama in the index. Not to much info there other than the schedule for practice and rough directions. The track is nice but some difficult jumps I just roll. If you and the husband are bringing the kids this far let me know, Monica, John and I will meet y'all there. be aware no water hook ups and a generator is necessary for power. We just pull the trailer behind the trusty pick-up for John's and my bikes. As long as I don't have to be on call or at the air base we are riding. this is my first time since May of 06 and before the surgeries/kidney failure/coma. Should be interesting to say the least. | Escamos Attic is an off road park. We haven't been there yet. it has a shop and a 9-10 mile loop through the woods and swamps. it is just North of our home. They are on the Gulf MX page too, I believe. Bill |

So tell me about Atmore MX, anything that makes this place special? Even if its just personal. How long is the track? |

| Track is about 1.5 miles in length with several doubles, table tops and whoop sections. Conditions vary from clay/loam to hard pack which is typical for this area. Not very crowded and close to our house. Nothing really special just a fun place for John and I to ride, he has gotten a 4th place and won a moto there on his RM-Z250. Can be pretty dusty but they have a sprinkler system and they do use it. I like it because it is wide since the owners are quad racers but no hassles with the quad racers ever. Pretty laid back bunch there. Escamo's attic has a great web site and the shop does a pretty good salvage business as well as used bikes. I understand they have an MX track now but we have not been up there yet. More tomorrow, I got to get up at 0430 to be at the air station for work, later. Bill |

Oh and Bill... thanks for all your ideas.... That track does sound great especially if they use the water!! One more question... Do the quads ride the same time as bikes? I ask because it worries me to death with Jude. Not that I think quad riders are careless.... but accidents do happen, and the weight & size of a quad is substantial compared to a bike. It wouldn't keep us from going some where, just wondering what to expect. I like to stay on Judes tail in those situations. Guess weather will play a role in any plans too. Also I have not even mentioned any thing other than Splendora to my hubby. He has an early bed time like you, for work. So when he gets on line in the morning and sees this thread, I guess he will put his 2 cents in. Thanks again! Last edited by mxmama393; 04-23-2007 at 10:48 PM. |

| Quads are on the track at the same time, it is an open practice. Splendora may well be your best bet if it is open. There are a lot of quads usually since the owners are members of a quad team. Bill Last edited by Florida 393; 04-25-2007 at 07:03 AM. |

Well they dont bother me to the point not to go somewhere. I just like to watch Jude at bit more than usual. If the track is wide, as you said, you and John still enjoy the place, then I am sure its still a pleasant experience. The only other thing about quads is the DUST. Man.. those things spit out some dust LOL. But water fixes all that!! Actually my daughter has shown an interest in quads (since she HATES dirt bikes) So I think it would be cool for her to see them in action. We have a few utility quads, and I have to constantly tell her, "they were not made for jumping..." Anyway, she hasn't ever seen one that IS meant for stunts, much less seen the stunts. We want her to stay involved with us... you know? Anyway, I'm gonna watch the weather and check with Jody (my husband). And well make some plans by Wednesday evening. |

| If you do come plan on parking the RV at our house Friday and Saturday night if you like. Water and electricity available and you can stay and eat with us. Monica is looking forward to meeting you and the family. Just let us know and go to the track you feel best at. Bill Last edited by Florida 393; 04-25-2007 at 07:03 AM. |

You know we have a really long camper huh? like 35' or more.... with out the truck! If we did come, we would be in 2 trucks.. one for the camper, and one for the trailer. So U sure about that?? LOL Thats a bunch of eye sores for the neighbors, and y'all too. LOL Sounds fun either way, the kids are out of school Friday too. I know its over a 5 hour drive or so from here. So we'll see, how far my husband feels like venturing away from home. (and the weather) We may have to find something a little closer. Then again We will know more by tomorrow. Let me know about that camper spot! Last edited by Florida 393; 04-25-2007 at 07:04 AM. |
