The manuel recommends sae 10w hydraulic oil. The cap on the resevoir says use mineral oil. I am using mineral oil right now but I don't feel comfortable with it. I want to buy a bleeder pump and change to the hydraulic oil. 1.Two questions what do you use in your Katoom clutch? 2. Where do you get it? I looked at our MC shop yesterday and they didn't have any hydraulic fluid. Maybe a KTM dealer might have it? Last edited by Dirtbikindad393; 06-19-2004 at 01:35 PM.

Using the mineral oil is right. Anything else is going to ruin the seals. Why do you feel uncomfortable using it? Magura does make a special fluid for their clutches.

DBD: Just go over to KTMTalk & do a serch on clutch oil & you'll get a bunch of info. I think that some guy's are using Mobil1 ATF with good results. I'm about to change mine & I'll just run up to the local KTM dealer as they have the whole kit in the shop for $18.95 You migh check with some of the local moto outlets to see if they have the kits. Cyclegear here in Houston has them on the shelf.

Mineral oil in non-toxic, cheap, available almost anywhere in the event of an emergency repair...why do you feel the need to switch.

When Stevie was a KTM support rider a few years ago, we always ran mineral oil with no problems.

Dane, set the "from" option to the beginning. I got 2 pages of posts using keywords "clutch fluid" and over 4 with "hydraulic clutch"...........

Don't use mineral oil from the drug store. Any high quality 5 wt. fork oil will work. I replaced mine with high quality racing fork oil. 5wt makes the clutch work so easy. ATF fluid is about 15 wt.

Rick: I hate to disagree with you but ATF is NOT 15wt. Dextron II is 7.5 Wt & ford type is 10Wt. I also told DBD to look up using Mobil 1 ATF which is 7 Wt

Howard, I thought the same about ATF fluid, but Shocknut told me it was more like 15 wt. so now I am all confused.
