I'm not a KTM junky, but i know that the 200,250 and 300 exc's haul *** in the woods. I was going to buy a new one but they wanted almost $10,000 can. for one here in canada. they have plenty of power down low and up top.

Yes a KTM is a good choice for an off road bike. Just pick one and be happy.

Thumperding's right. You can't go wrong with orange. The 200 is a great engine. The EXC has wide ratio tranny, the MXC is close ratio. Suspension was the same. The MXC has been discontinued though, so I assume you are talking used. Havn't ridden a 200SX, but everyone raves on them too. I have ridden 200's, an 03 300 EXC and a 4 smoke 520EXC. It's all good!

If you like power go for the 200MXC
best bet would be see if you can get a ride!
I think the 200EXC is abit under gunned but I'm not a good rider so I look for HP to compensate, Also the areas I ride are abit open and include dunes so the 200 is always struggling out there!
Everywhere else seems fine tho!.
My 200EXC is plenty light around 100KG,st
I do like it when it runs had a few problems with mine as It was always my second bike! In the process of rebuilding it now Should be just like a bought one All shiny and new!
(Damn parts are expensive)
I would love to try the MX version and wonder how that motor would go in the exc frame!
Keeping it mainly as it is licensed for the road so doubles as occasional transport! Can't beat that!
MX motor in EXC frame???
I think that would make for a very interesting bike!
