I know on most bikes you can leave the powervalve arm cover off and go down the road and actually watch to see if the valve is opening and closing, I have done this on a couple of my yz's.

Let us know what you find Dane.

My first thought when I read the first post was the powervalve. Scott (spitfire)'s RM125 did the exact same thing when it was unhooked.

Well I called my local shops to see if I could get it in but of course it's too late in the game to get it done for Mesquite. I will look at it tonight best I can and see if its the power valve and if there is anything I can do for it.
We might just bring it with us and see if there is anything we can do out there also. DBK might be riding my bike while I am not riding. I feel really bad about this. He was really looking forward to riding his bike at Mesquite.

My bet goes toward the powervalve. Like Ineeda said, my bike's powervalve (RM 125) wasn't working for the first 3 months+ I owned it. It would idle fine, bottom end power into the mid-range power was fine (powervalve was stuck closed), but it just wouldn't scream, or have ANY powerband, so we took apart my powervalve, and it was full of carbon, cleaned it, thought the problem was solved, nope, so we checked out behind the right side cover, and sure enough the actuator arm was unhooked down there, put that on, put everything back together, with the exception of the linkage cover, started it, revved it up, and you could see the actuator arm moving, so we then knew it was working, took the bike for a spin (after putting linkage cover back on of course), and one word could describe what that bike was like, WOW!, it honestly felt like a brand new bike. So yeah, I'm betting it's your powervalve giving ya trouble, simple fix though!

I hope its simple. I am not sure how you would rehook it if its not hooked. I looked under that cover last night but couldn't tell anything.

There's a diagram to my powervalve/linkage, I'm not sure if your KTM is the same, but I couldn't find a diagram for KTM on BikeBandit, so maybe this will help.

What was wrong with my bike was very simple, following the diagram, Part 37 (attached to Part 35), fell out of the little hole in Part 27.

OK I think I have solved the problem thanks to you guys here.

I got home took the right side cover off like Spitfire and Oring said and sure enough the rod pushing up on the thingy to open the power valve was disconnected. My problem is not knowing how it works, I took everything apart and cleaned it too. Putting it back together is a pain in the azz but it will be done soon and I will test it out.

I will post whats up in a little bit. Thanks for the help gang!

I've owned some KTM smokers, and there's plenty of info at KTMTALK on how to properly set up the power valve. It's also covered in the owner's manual. Tricky, but not that difficult.
Good luck, let us know how it all came out...
