I gotta friend looking at a KTM 360 2-stroke and he weighs (I'm guessing around 260-280 lbs.) he's ridden by Cr250 and the power was too snappy for him, he is looking for a milder power band. Anyone know how the power band is on a KTM 360, I think it is a 1997. Any info would be great, Thanks

the 360 i recall from that time period was a debored 500. i had no experience other than off and on it. i didnt like the forks at all, so the motor didnt make much of an impression. there is a lot of mix and matching to be done with KTM's. Different flywheel availibility etc. you can get that with an exc transmission, which in that case was a 5 speed with wide ratios. that would give an easy to use low gear. do you know which model he is looking at?

The 300 is WAYYYYY milder than a 250. Great engine. If KTM brings it back as a 300 sx with a carb swap from what it has now on the EXC or WR it may find it's way into the 450 class or whatever they will be calling that this year. seemed ironic that it was illegal in mx without an open class when a 450 was legal.

I used to have a 1986 KTM EXC 360 and that thing was a pain to start when cold, had to put alot of leg into it!! Once it was running, it was a beast!! Very powerful machine in the tight woods.

Man, I just picked up an 1998 KTM 380 with the Gnarly pipe on it and the thing is more mild than my 02 YZ250 was, a lot less pipey but a lot more torque. I am having a hard time trying to figure out just exactly what it is like (I have ridden an awful lot of bikes over the years). The power kind of reminds me of the older street legal 2 strokes, but yet it still has that pipey power. I am 250 #'s though, so that probably helps to tame that power.
