Default Help me pick some goggles

The foam on my old pair has turn to dust. Time to replace. I read alot of hype in the mags about the new goggles. What have you found to be true about the new anti fogs? I would like the biggest, easiest to see through lens possible too.

Thanks, Darin

I think it really boils down to preference. If you can, take your helmet and see if you can try some different ones on with your helmet.

My preference is the Spy Alloy goggles. I like the way they fit best.

I agree with Char, it's personal preference. My son and I have used Scott 89Xi's for the last few years with good luck. They are priced well and it's easy to get lenses and tear offs. You'll get lots of opinions here so go down to a local shop and try a few different pairs on. Don't forget your helmet as that may affect the way the goggles fit. Don't buy googles for looks alone. They need to be functional first.

I prefer the Scott Voltage goggles over the 89/Xi series. They are smaller around the face, and less bulky IMO. So they sit just right.

As for anti fog lenses, I can tell you that if you went with any of the Scott goggles, that your anti fog lenses would work like a charm. When I was sponsored by them, they sent me about 20 or 30 lenses for my Voltage and No Sweat Xi goggles, and every lens that was anti for worked perfectly.

Def get something that feels comfortable AND has a readily replaced lens. you dont want to have to wait 2 weeks for a back ordered lens. i had that problem when I was sponsored by metamucil. Id be backed up for weeks.

Doc, I would have switched teams in the middle of the season and went to Ex-Lax or something! Backed up for weeks is not good in any case. I have some Cyan Blue Scott XI no fog whatevers, they fit good and the foam isnt crap. Look good too. That is the most important, look good and feel good.

It's all personal preference. Been using the Scott Xi's for the last few years but I have tried others. Case in point:I crashed really hard in nov 08 and destroyed my helmet and goggles. A sweep rider came by my camp and handed a brand new pair of Oakley Crobars (that was nice of him). I like them but the lenses are almost $40 unless you go clear. Also, you need to try the goggles on with YOUR helmet as some fit different then others. When I got my Shoei helmet a few months back I found I had to take nose piece off my XI's. good luck

Like it was said before, take your helmet in and try a few pairs on. I have a preference to the Spy Alloys also. I have tried Oakley, Scott, Beer (yes, BEER), Pro-Grip, etc. The Spy goggles had the best fit for me and the lenses and tear-offs are readily available.

I personally like the Oakley O frames. But as previously stated, it's really personal preference. What I like and what you might like may or may not be the same thing.

I have tried the Scott goggles over and over, but I think the foam on the Oakleys last longer and seal better.

The Oakleys are tough to get in my area - nobody seems to stock them or tear-offs for them, but I still run Oakleys.
